These F**kers just never learn do they? Windscale, Three mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima. We could this industry far to much slack. If a coal, oil, gas, wind, wave or solar plant goes wrong it stops and causes a little bit of mess. But these ****** things xan kills hundreds and poison the wider area for centuries.

Anyone can make a mistake even the nuclear industry because we are all human, but after a second SNAFU people should be in prison and after a third the plant should be closed down and the companies owners forced to pay all the decommisioning costs. I'm pro nuclear BTW but I think criminal incompetance is rampant in that indutry and its NEVER the bosses, share holders and investers who die.

Fukushima should have given everyone pause, but all the major nuclear accidents were accidents waiting to happen. There is no excuse for any kind of sloppiness in nuclear power.

And the thing about ACCIDENTs is....... ACCIDENTS DONT JUST HAPPEN, accidents always have a CAUSE, 99.999% normally HUMAN causes. Bad design, Poor construction, poor maintenance, bad training, lazyness, criminality, incompetance, stupidity, undermanning, underfunding, poor quality materials, wrong location, bad operating practice, bad management, sabotage, terrorism, short cuts etc etc and humanity cannot afford ANY of those things around nuclear power.

Then add mother nature to the mix, Quakes, Firestorms, Floods etc.

Agreed. If an employee or manager makes a sloppy mistake they should be fired. Period.

From what I understand about Fukushima, there were repeated warnings, but the decision was made to ignore the warnings because acting on the warnings would have been an admission that something was wrong. So they just stuck their heads in the sand and hoped it would all just magically go away.
That and they knew the plant had been built on very low land KNOWN to sink during quakes and not building much higher Tsunami walls.

I don't like nuclear I never have, too many chances of accidents and the clean up costs are huge.
I don't like fracking either.
but then I don't really care if the lights go off, might solve a lot of the overpopulation problems if they did.
