I've got 30+ years of serious martial arts training and instructing including tactical firearms, knife, machete and tomahawk seminars that I've taught as well. I've been a professional bodyguard for 20 years and have been in executive protection including escorts to Chad, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iraq. I've had to survive nearly unsurvivable situations and I'm willing to bet my life on a coldsteel product. I hope that seals the deal!! lol

I gave up on Gerber knife products long ago. Several good friends have done reviews of both the pocket knifes and the survival knifes and found them lacking. Main complaints were handles fell apart with heavy use and the blades failed to keep an edge for long. Outside of that haven't had any problems personally I got one from a friend and found the edge retention lacking. The bear grylles knife is a cheaper copy of the LMF 2 Gerber survival knife which I found worked a little better.

Look on e.bay. The prices seem ok ( my opinion fwiw ), but the postage down under is ridiculous.

I bought his ultimate knife with the flint, sharpener, whistle, hammer for 45$ at mec and I'm very happy with it

This group got off topic pretty quickly. To be honest, i've checked out the bear grylls stuff. It's not going to be on my list of survival tools. Especially not the knife w/ hollowed out grip/compass. You need a full tang on every blade you carry. That does not have one. Plain and simple, you lost me on that fact alone. As was mentioned above, you're buying a name and not the better quality in that case.
