I keep rice, beans, pastas, and a few other things in soda bottles. I haven't had any trouble with anything going bad. Seriously. I have 5 gallon buckets of these items in the root cellar, spare room, pantry, wherever. I keep the soda bottle in my kitchen cupboards for ease of handling and just refill them as needed from the big buckets. I also do not use mylar bags, just the clean, food grade bucket with a well-fitting lid. You can keep eggs for months in the refrigerator without doing anything special to them to start with. If you are in doubt about your eggs, gently place them in a bowl of water. The older the egg, the more the egg floats. If no part of the egg touches the bottom of the bowl, pitch it. Otherwise, they should be fine, just runnier when you break them open.
