Dad and I used to forage crab apples from a beautiful stand outside our town - they made brilliant jelly, and jam with blackberries. Really looking forward to growing some heritage Scottish apples and filling a few jars of dry, chewy slices.

My wife & I put up 50+ jars of apple butter last week. We have a date tomorrow night to make our 3rd batch. My job is to peel them. She then cuts the meat off the core and puts in 3 crock-pots. It cooks for around 12 hours & then we can using a water bath. When my Arkansas Black apples get ready, I'll can some quarts of applesauce.
