What about a Honda Ruckus, nice big padded seat? :) I'm purposely looking at very small lightweight and very economical machines, usually 125 cc or less

Remember chaps these sort of devices are meant as simple personal transport at modest speeds probably no more than 30 MPH for a 50cc machine and 55MPH for a 125cc machine, but the economy and range gives you insane mobility, over here in the UK and EU you often see such small bikes fastened across the back of RVs and camper vans. Indeed in an article in one of our papers about such small bikes many people kept them as commuter bikes dor urban areas but a few preppers kept them as Get Home Bikes. So no they wont carry a huge amount at high speed and look cool like a hog, but they will carry you at six times walking speed wuith a modest bag on the back, and the small machine will give you a range of about 200 miles for a gallon and the 125cc 100 miles to a gallon.
