Here's a 3 day bag, canteen cup and stove, food, water filter straw, for fire cotton balls with vaseline, fire steel, two lighters, TP, wipes, bandanna, candle, tools, radio, head lamp, flashlight, paracord, poncho, fuel tabs for the stove, med kit, In my car i carry extra cloths, water, a trap and tent. This pretty much goes everywhere with me or its in my car. Hope this helps.

Keep copies of all important papers; birth certificates, marriage license, bank info, insurance info, health info in a zip loc bag to keep them dry. You never know when you might need to prove you are really you or that you have insurance if your kid has a busted arm.

double bag if possible. i have learned the "fun" way to do it when i went swimming a long time ago. zip lock in a zip lock.

also start off with house items, such as canned food or any other kind of foods and water bottles. then from there move slowly to other items little by little, so the impact that it cost, doesnt feel so heavy all at once.

I agree with the 72 hour bag and iteams that go into but My one concern is in a bug out situation where you are using these bags
You will not be using bank insurance info why waist that valuble space in your bag with un needed paperwork

You would need that information if it were a natural disaster situation such as Katrina, Sandy, the Joplin tornado. Makes things easier if you have your information to present to get the monies you need. If it's yours you need to be able to prove it.

yes but as a Joplin man myself I can tell you that after the storm had past and in the wake of clean up the banks were the last places to open and when they did open they already had their back up programs in place and all that was needed was an ID IE....drivers lics, state ID and all Birth records are stored in a database that is easily retreved after rebuild agian in the wake of small bug out situations such as storms quakes ... as long as you have your wallet with ID's you will be fine

You tube has alot of videos about making a 72 hour bug out bag all seem to contain almost same items but it truely comes down to what you yourself will need to have in a 3 day outting, simple and easy is the way to go, dont get carried away with all the fancy dancy tools and equipment keep it simple and basics first after packing all the basics then in the spear room of your bag is the space for the extra gear that will be creature comferts of home
KEY: simple and easy will be the safest way to survive

I agree, people make them but i have not heard anyone say they have tested them. Other than myself.

I have tested all of my gear including my 72 hour bag and my bug out bag and in all honesty they are the same bag I have figured out what best suits my needs and geared my bag to my needs and that is the key to survival what works for me will not mean it will work for someone else as I was raised in the traditions of living off the land as much as posble and for me I dont see the need in some things that would mean life and death for someone else and this is why in all my training classes i stress SIMPLE EASY keep it simple and easy for you and you will do fine if you try to overcomplicate it youll suffer

I too have been testing all of the items that go into the B.O.B. I also test them when in a mock scenario.
Luckily we did have a real evacuation some months back when a Cal Trans worker struck a gas main by the house.
It was this incident that got me to 1. change the location the bags, but solidified my wife as a believer in prepping.

Yes I read the posting you posted about that incident with gas line and I myself have been in scenario IE... jolpins tornado, the ice storm of northern Indiana a few years back and the floods of 2003 were my prepping came into play in the 2003 floods was the longest and the greatest test of my prepping where in I was forced out of my house for three weeks and me, my three kids and exwife now were relocated to my ten acre hunting grounds were for the 3 weeks of living off the ten acres was actualy easy to do with all my prepping complet

I have been in several earthquakes, but none of them to the severity where I was, was that of what you have had to endure.

yes in 2003 I was living in indiana and we had some magor flooding and at the time we were new to the area and only had our house and my hunting woods to use
the ice storm was also in indiana and we were with out power for a week
and most reasent Joplins tornado I was lucky not to be home at time but i did spend all the time in a camping scenario tell found new place

I have a 30 foot camper on the lake in another. Clothing, food items and 60 gallons of water in its holding tank, propane tanks are full. Would this make a good bug out location?

just remember you location is very important and as a formor military myself locations of large amounts of water and large cities will be first places to be utilized by hostols
