Accusations of sexual assault that are admitted/proven to be knowingly false, like similar accusations for other types of crime, seem to be much smaller in number than accusations that are admitted/proven to be true or dismissed/withdrawn for other reasons. Any accusation admitted/proven to be knowingly false should be treated as an offence and dealt with properly through punishment and education without fear or favour. The same should happen re any accusation admitted/proven to be true.

Let me call my thought the 'reciprocating' rule. If a girl lies and charges a boy with rape, she should face the same penalties as he would have face. Not one second of prison time less.

Yes, there are plenty of cases of he-said/she-said, and those will just fade away. But using the same 'preponderance of the evidence', if the accuser can be proven to make false claims, the accuser is the one who should go to prison. And the accused should be free to file civil cases as well (OJ Simpson for example).

Salem witch trials comes to mind but then again, false accusations goes all the way back to biblical times, there a reason to why it’s one of the commandments “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour” bearing false witness has always been a weapon in man’s and women’s arsenal of destruction and that’s never going to change.

anyone can say anything about someone else, its whether they can back up the accusations with actual proof that makes the difference. plenty of men have been accused of rape without any shred of proof.
this nasty side of human nature is why I prefer to have nothing to do with other people and to spend as much time as I can alone.

Well, best hope that she's not someone's relative, that she doesn't have a bright future in sport ahead of her, that she's apparently never done anything like this before, or that she's under the wrong judge, because then she'll get little or no jail time for a false accusation of rape or sexual assault.
