SCORE, that is gerbers earlier model, well done for that price. looks like it is in good shape. Be careful, it can be a slippery slope if you get hooked on the multi tools. Ah forget it, you are already hooked.

It's got a few little rust spots, any advice for cleaning it up?
yeah i like to soak them in hot soapy water dawn soap works best, dry completely then oil. wd40 and fine steel wool should take off the rust but be careful of scratching the finish .
wd-40 is good for cleaning up the tools n all.but i hear that wd-40 clogs up the works..so i use 3-in-1 oil
you are dead on, just for rust with a little steel wool

Which is better Gerber or Leatherman? And why? I have no idea.
I need help lol, Damn victorinox for making 100's of different models then they bought out Wenger so say good buy to Wenger. that means i have to hustle to get all the wenger knives.
leatherman quality is better. but Gerber has innovated stuff like sliding pliers. If I was going to buy one multi tool it would be a leatherman.

My next purchase is a leatherman then a crank weather/emergency radio 
i think id go with the one with the arrow head on it,on acount i think the other one maybe way to high costly and all
