My partner and I live in the North Island of New Zealand with our kids and dogs. Both of us are prepper-minded and have been our whole adult lives. Looking forward to being around other like minded people

Hi from the North Island, too! I'm in Palmy, new to prepping but learning lots, improving my bushcraft, thinking about bug-out vs bug-in options, etc.

Feeling pretty lucky to be in NZ these days! Moved back from Aussie late last year, that timing is seeming better and better (and like an accidental bug-out move in itself, ha!)

Hope all is well for you, wherever you are in the North Island ... : )

Welcome to you too.

I'm back again. Life got busy then my partner and I broke up. I kept prepping through all of it, even though partner and family thought I was being paranoid. Turned out good though because New Zealand went into level 4 lockdown (our highest level) and I have enough supplies to sit back and chill with my kids 🙂

Hi Tom Doig, if you're still in Palmy then I'm just over the hill from you in the Tararua district 🙂

Would love to hear about your prepping there. I’ve always imagined NZ to be the ultimate place to bug out to.
I might be biased but being on the arse end of the world has it's benefits. We're too far away and too small to bother sending nukes or EMP attacks against.

Mostly my prepping is for natural disasters, pandemics, and unemployment. So for me that means having 3-6 months of supplies in the house and as much savings as possible. This has come in handy multiple times, even before covid-19 flipped the world upside down.

I have young kids so I've always planned on digging in rather than bugging out, but I still have go bags (clothes, food, water, documents, first aid kit, medications, etc) in case we have to evacuate quickly for whatever reason.

I don't have a firearms license but I do have a length of steel rebar that could do some damage. It's not as good as a gun but it's what I've got 🤷‍♀️
