Could be dems just prepping the public for when they set off an EMP in the upper atmosphere.

I'm not sure, Tex. We are supposed to be in solar minimum but the outputs, even baseline, seem mad recently, mate. Plenty of big sunspots, many of them are magnetically complex and are really quite active.
As for Dems - well they seem madder than a nest of hornets and so I consider anything is possible.
