I know this is an old thread, but hypothetically if they would come, would they be the slow walkers of walking dead or those fast ones from wwz?? what's your guess?? ;)

this thread did pop-up in my mind as it's disaster night on my tv here, zombies and evil computers...

As for zombie speed, I feel they would start off fast as they become infected then, as their bodies cells start dying off, they would slow to a walk, then just stumbling till they no longer had the strength to stand, then they would end up just lying around until they decomposed. Now, if they can draw nourishment from what they eat, it may take longer. Just my guess.

What's interesting about a zombie apocalypse? I have an opinion based entirely on a lovely night spent around a campfire all by myself. It gives us a reason to kill people and not suffer the guilt of it. They are no longer human, or they are already dead. Sure, most of us wouldn't actually kill unless we felt threatened, but with zombies, its carte blanc.
Releasing man's baser nature to kill or be killed. Or woman's. I know there have been people in my life I wouldn't have had a problem shooting.

I think the most likely scenario is like 28 days, where they aren't really reanimated, just infected humans. An airborne strain of rabies would be pretty similar.

this thread is by far most positive here on DPF ;)

had a long talk today at my work, even there some of my co-workers are little afraid that the ebola will start spreading, it takeas only one sick individual on a major airport and all hell breaks loose

It's a horrible, horrible disease to get too...
Worst part is the onset time, 2 days to 3 weeks even! So people could be spreading it, without even feeling sick. Has about a 90% mortality rate also, yikes!

2days to 3 weeks??
that's not news you wanna hear, there could be someone flying at this very moment...thinking of major hubs like NYC,DC,LON,FRA,PARIS,still when it's holiday season people travel around like crazy...

Ebola is indeed very nasty and contagious, but it is not airborne and requires contact with bodily fluids. That limits epidemics to situations like unsanitary Third World hospitals and funeral rituals that involve contact with the deceased. It is not a good candidate for a pandemic.

Yep, needs to be airborne to be pandemic level.
If my nightmare airborne rabies thing every comes to pass, we'll at least have a good easy weapon vs. those kinds of zombies.....water.

Part of rabies is severe hydrophobia, so squirt guns vs. zombies!

Don't forget to stock up on Zombie ammo...:)

When I first saw that advertised, I thought it was a joke. It's not! I bought some.

I think the zombie ammo is very bad to have around, and should have never been made.

Suppose you are forced to shoot in self defense.

If you used zombie ammo, the prosecution would try to argue that you're crazy and paranoid, or perhaps delusional, and cost you credibility with a jury.

That's why it's important not to own guns with macho names, like The Rambo model 1911 (I just made the name up to illustrate a point).

Prosecuting attorneys pay attention to things like this.

Zombies don't worry me because I don't believe in them, just a figment of some Hollywood director, however a pandemic would be very real, another reason I don't fly, use trains or travel on buses, if I cant travel somewhere in my own vehicle I don't go there.
in a pandemic I go into total personal isolation lockdown until the disease has run its course-another reason I have stores.

zombies,,,you know the movie Night of the Living dead made in Pa. ,,,the movie that started it all was a low budget film and to a 13 year old kid was scary as hell we saw it at the local drive in I even come to know a few who were in it,,,it was made not far from where I grew up,,,,,,the zombie idea has been played to death and I will not watch anything concerning zombies,,,,,,,,there are no zombies,,,

but I can see a epidemic hitting the world and taking out a large number of people, and if that happens I think it will be a biological weapon that some government loses control of...

I guess it depends on where you live. Here the jury would probably find it amusing...and ask where they could get some...:D

But never fear, my box of Zombie Max is still sitting on the shelf unopened. Tell you the truth, I was explaining to my son that "Zombie" is a metaphor, and he didn't believe me. So I bought the box of Zombie Max just to make a point. I bought it strictly as a novelty item. If I ever did use it, it would probably be on four legged critters. For two legged critters, if God forbid I should actually ever have to, I would only use Gold Dots or XTPs.

I'm pretty sure the "zombie" max ammo is the same as the usual max safe ammo (designed not to penetrate walls for urban defense)...the flip side is that it pretty much ensures anyone who IS hit, is not going to survive....

It's expensive stuff. I only have about a dozen rounds of it.
