My guns are right in my closet, so pretty easy to get to if there's a noise.

Our bedrooms are all locked at night (with exterior door locks), so that's some deterrent as well.

My large lab/chow sleeps at my feet, so he's at my disposal too. He'll let me know if someone's coming near way before I'd know it while sleeping.

The wife keeps a nice dagger tucked in the mattress next to the frame. I have a bowie knife at the ready.

Both have our cell phones, but also a home phone on her nightstand.

We each have a flashlight in the nightstand also, and we switch batteries out every 2 months.

In addition, there are little LED lanterns we keep onhand for power outages, candles, and decorative (and functional) oil lamps as well. Don't knock these. There's a reason these were primary lighting for ages...

i've long since started keeping oil lamps through out the house as well..and as for the candles go.their in a under the bed tote.and right where i can get to them easily enough..and as for my nightstand goes..i still keep 1 flashlight,1 small camping lantern and a 20.ounce bottle of something to drink..and my cell phone...everything else that be a immediate grab situation.is either on or in my pants if a emergency situation of some kind should arrise..

Not saying any one here sleeps buck naked but, a friend had to take blankets to a man and a wife, after their home caught fire, they literally had nothing left, everything gone in about one hour. What is on the night stand and in and on the pants close by, is very important, but have something extra somewhere outside the house as well, a hollow post in the garden wich holds up the bird feeder or something else.

If my house is burning down, nudity will be the absolute least of my worries (though my nudity may cause others to worry, lol)....but I really won't give a damn. I'd be too busy trying to make sure all are safe to worry about being naked. Though, I usually keep a robe right by the bed, mostly out of consideration for others in the household who probably don't want to see me naked (like the stepkids)

i keep the clothes i'll be wearing the next day, next to my bed.so all i have to do.is sit up.and start getting dressed.which is great for when i decide getting dressed in the dark, time 2 time..

On my nightstand- I live by myself in a trailer for now so there's no trouble with other people. I have a Charter Arms Bulldog .44spl with Glasers, a flashlight, my cellphone and a boyscout handbook. Sometimes a book I'm reading makes it there. Because of these items, I keep that area pretty clear.

I really want to get the root cellar/shelter humidity situation fixed soon as it is a great place to store stuff. It's eight inches of concrete, making it fire proof, earthquake resistant, and pretty secure all around. That old saying of don't put all you eggs in one basket comes to mind here. Really good advice to have more than one location for some of your necessities.

I typically have my clothes ready for the next day too, but more because I'm lazy in the morning. They're on the drawer chest at the foot of the bed.

Besides what I mentioned before, I keep my keys and wallet on the nightstand too, as well as my glasses (when not wearing contacts), and my headphones and MP3 player (I like to listen to audio books). I have an hour or so drive each way to work, so I listen to books in the truck, and then, if at a good part in the story, I'll listen a bit before bed.

Years ago late one night I heard a noise out in the barn so I went to investigate, wearing only a hat. It was winter so there was several feet of snow on the ground. What a surprise when the noise turned out to be my teenage son, who was supposed to be away for the weekend, and a bunch of his friends. They all got to see much more of me in their flashlight beam than any of them ever wanted to see. I learned to keep my pants close by, and to put something on when going outside at night.

did any of them take pictures? LOL

unless i have no choice, like house fire,or what ever..i never go out in my b-day suiet..i always have my pants right there when i first sit up,to get out of bed.and if im not going anywhere first thing in the morning.my 22 revolver is on my belt..

I really liked jims idea of keeping your wallet and keys and stuff in your pants. I just ditch today's clothes on the floor next to the bed, so if there's an emergency I just throw them on and don't have to look for anything. I pick them up in the morning when I'm getting my fresh set on for he day.

I don't care about people seeing me butt naked, but I do care about being protected from the elements, espechially during the winter! There's less to see in the cold anyways .

A Glock Model 21 .45 customized a bit, two extra magazines, two maglites, an alarm clock, whatever books I'm reading at the time, and a Viking hand axe. Along side my nightstand is my 5.56 platform and accessories.

Not an issue where I live (FL), hehe.....cold? What is that?

I used to sleep with a knife under (or close to) my pillow. At some point someone stole it, so next payday I'll buy a new one. Also, my clothes are always in the same place and keys/wallet are easy to access.

This is my wishlist for my nightstand table, anybody willing to donate please let me know. [emoji1]
