this bag is awesome i used it for almost 12 years now while i was on active duty it has never failed me. A word of warning it can get heavy fast it has so much room its ridiculous it also has a daypack attachment that in and of its self could be a BOB

It also has a buttpack attachment, Idea for a short recon mission it will easily hold 3 mre's (field stripped) and any additional odds and ends you might need

You're talking 5k feet right?
Meaning like a mile n half?
Yes, a 5k run. My daughter checked with the Dr. due to age before the run. But both boys ran and finished the 5k both starting a 9 years old. The 10 yr old came in first in his age group twice, and the 9 yr old came in second in his age group. I kid you not.

I just purchased a bag today from, of all places, walmart! It is a tactical bag, marpat design and it is considered a MOLLE pack. It has the MOLLE system all over the front and sides, then has a compartment inside for a camelback. It has TONS of compartments and storage space and has the spot on the bottom to strap on your mat or sleeping bag. You can add on to it with other bags available from walmart too. I got the smalled one for only 20 bucks but they had a much larger version that was more like 2 packs in one, more like a typical day pack that the military would hump with. I am psyched and can't wait to pack it up!

We have a medium ALICE pack and just a regular school backpack (which is getting replaced today).

I really like the ALICE, but my husband wants something even bigger.

Well look at my post and my bag it's pretty big
I've been looking for it on Amazon, but I can't quite find anything that looks exactly the same. A name search yields no results. There are quite a few bags that are similar, but now I'm getting picky, lol!

I think I will get my husband the large ALICE pack. I originally got him the medium (for Christmas, lol, but he figured it out when we were shopping the other day), and I do adore it. He likes the setup but thinks he should have a large bag so he can carry the heavier/bulkier items while I carry the lightweight stuff in the medium (as we're planning on me holding our son most of the time in a bug out on foot situation).

I would just wait a few more days to see if I can find something even better for around the same price, but we're getting a little anxious around here.

Wife and I both have the Blackhawk Raptor bag. Father in law got them for us from when he was in survival school for Christmas last year.

Run a MILE??? Seriously? Thats what cars are for!!! :)

Honestly it depends on the definition of run. If you mean a full out sprint with my pack, then no. If you mean a steady trot that can cover the mile in 9-10 minutes then yes, and I have a monster pack weighing in at 100 pds, with another for my girlfriend that weighs in at 50 pds.

I'm basically set up the same way I was in the military. Web gear to keep items that I will use on a frequent basis (maps, compass, kilck beads, flashlight, ammunition, knife, etc) With larger items in my ruck (two man tent, food, clothes, medical kit, etc) I've duplicated this for my G/F on a smaller level.

I go jogging with my armour and pack all the time but as for weight and distance And time, not a clue, lots of weight, lots of distance and for however much time I have lol I know I can move if I need to haha

LMAO hey as long as your doing it thats what counts! I train pretty hard cause of health reasons, but I make sure that I can maitain the 9-10 min mile in all my gear for at least 10 miles in rolling hills and fields and forest terrain. If I'm feeling really sadistic I'll run it on the beach.
