Worldometer uses the numbers from each state's official web site (which they give links to). Most state web sites are fairly up-to-date, with maybe one or two day lag at the most. Worldometer updates their page almost immediately when the state web site is updated. (maybe five minute lag at most)
The CDC does not do this at all, they count the deaths themselves from data submitted to the National Vital Statistics System, which can be weeks behind the state web sites.
