but isn't that what a lot of people do? and not just the homeless. sit on their backside with their hands out expecting someone else to provide? i'm sure it will also be the case post SHTF. some will ALWAYS expect others to provide, its human nature.
Hope they don't expect us to do that because it ain't happenin.

You just have to use your best judgement and expect a few to fool you now and then. I know with me it's often just a "feeling" I get, which is of course unreliable. The expert conners know how to play you.

I've seen a few of those youtube vids where panhandlers get found out. I won't give them a dime. Fake pregnancies, fake veterans, fake kids, liars a lot of them. Driving a Lincoln and living the highlife. NOPE.

Doreena, I have been unemployed and for all practical purposes a single father with two children in desperate economic straits. No it's not easy to pack up and head for greener pastures but I have done it myself. My car died during the move BTW.
If you have any pride it sucks to be poor. I get so tired of watching my pennies I could cry. Whatever, who cares. My 18 year old car is still hanging in there. LOL, I got the brake light switch fixed with help of Dad and got the blower motor going again so I could have heat, now I need to change the oil. It is at 4000K so I am behind but heck something always comes up, now the insurance company won't bill my credit card every quarter without an extra charge, so that makes it a bit hard to come up with that much cash at once, but I guess I will have to tighten up the budget again, ahhhhhhh!

Some of the homeless in the LA area are employed, but even so cannot afford to buy or rent. To quit a job and go elsewhere is not so easy as just picking up and leaving. On top of that, children are involved, too, and uprooting them isn’t easy, either. It isn’t a simple problem nor a simple solution.

I think the decision is more difficult that the action itself. It isn't hard to pack up and leave. but it is very hard to decide to do it.
