Keep in mind, the san andreas fault is too far inland to create tsunamis, an tsunami would be created by the Cascadia subduction zone off the Washington coast. The big one (san andreas/Cascadia) is based on the san andreas affecting only California, the Cascadia subduction zone has far reaching affects as it did in 1700 dropping the North America plate in Washington, engulfing the coastal lines from Alaska to Northern California to Japan, a 9.0~9.5 on the Cascadia subduction zone is what most fear will happen and right now the clock is ticking, we are 50yrs past due for the Cascadia.

So this is a legitimate concern. I know in Japan modern buildings have been built to withstand earthquakes to a certain point. Do states on west coast have structural requirements that reinforce properties to better withstand earthquakes?

Yes it is lagitimate concern, California is better but not on the par with Japan, Washington and Oregon all they do is talk, both of these states are fxxked to put it bluntly.

Out of all the concerns on this forum this one seems most probable/legitimate. I have experienced several earthquakes in Tokyo while in high rise buildings. You just feel the building sway from side to side. I always wondered if a severe one striked what could happen.

The big one as it's being called is my number one concern, being nuked or invaded by russia, martial law, fema camps etc.. are so remote that some of it borders idiocy, figured my preps isn't really for any one particular event but any event that may arise, way I see it, focusing on one event is a mistake. Paranoia has become the foundation too to many preppers choices an unfortunate mistake in my book :(

Yea I cover my bases in preparedness because that is just who I am. I don't buy into 99% of the prepper fanstasy narrative mumbo jumbo but this one feels different.

No one has a crystal ball and can predict what the world will do in the future. I do however know that for humans to survive we need water, food, shelter, and some way to provide security. It just makes sense to have some of these things in reserve for ANYTHING that disrupts our lives.

you guys know how to cheer me up ;)

well,if it goes to doo doo,my job is to keep my guys and gals alive, while carrying a bulls eye on me.
don't trust that the red cross will give much protection, but it comes with the territory.

sofar my preps have come in handy a few times, when short on cash and a couple of times when they cut the water for some repairs,my stash of H2O
have secured my coffee ;)

Yep and far larger than what was agreed too in the international and OSCE (Vienna Document) agreements. Under the Vienna Document, states conducting maneuvers involving more than 13,000 troops must notify other nations in advance and be open to observers. States were notified but the maneuvers far exceeded 13,000 unannounced to the party states, of course russia denied it and of course that's the russian way.

What, Putin’s says he is a nice guy. Don’t you believe him?

I have met many different people while traveling through different countries whom think our politicians are all idiots. Our country doesn't seem to have the greatest image from a political perspective throughout most of the world.

I usually avoid talking politics with people in general...especially while traveling. I think most people interested in politics are just looking for an excuse to argue or complain.
