People sometimes poke fun at preppers for preparing for economic collapse.

Have any of you guys turned on today's news?

Supposedly, there's a stock market crash that's the worst since 2008.

Maybe I've misunderstood CNN, but investors seem to be panicking.

What are your thoughts?

the market has it's ups and downs,it will rebound it always does if you are in the market don't panic,,,,,if not watch a day or so and when it levels out and stops dropping it will be a good time to buy in,it will climb back up to new heights

Nothing to worry about. We're still at record highs. I consider drops like this as buying opertunities.
Just by dumb luck, last week I sold off enough stocks to pay for the house, shop and all of my other 2018 construction projects. Right now that cash is sitting in safe "high" interest bonds until ready to use.

Think of this stock market as a teenage singer who was told for eight years that she was the greatest singer in the world and believed it. She actually did have a lot of raw talent, but was lacking in discipline and technique, and wouldn't take voice lessons because she got the big head and didn't think she needed them. But after losing a competition badly, her ego is deflated, and now she is teachable, and the voice coach can teach her the proper techniques.

I think investing is for the long term, so don’t worry about this. I do agree there is risk in everything, but my attitude is if you have extra money to invest with then you could live without it since it was extra to begin with. Do I want any investment to go down, of course not. But we’re not talking life and death here. Keep things in perspective.
