So i have this idea for a colony, completely self sustaining, that can consist of up to 400 like minded people. I call it project anthill. It could be built anytime with the right resources and requires people with skills and intellect. I studied drafting and design technology and have wanted to experiment building houses made of cast stone using wall tied forms. There would be need for medical experts, engineers, teachers, agricultural experts, and a security team. There are still a lot of details to be discussed and questions asked. I don't claim to be an expert of any kind. So please, ask your questions, give me advice, and improve this plan.

I would have crossover skills, especially for security personel, who will have nothing to do most of the time. Everyone will be trained in security anyhow. Time could be to short to not have things allready in motion though.

Cross training was definitely on my list. Whether the end comes today or 10 years im doing everything i can to reach my end goal.

I believe a small community would be best and far out of the way from any city.

I do think the odds of not just surviving but thriving are greatly increased by a group or community banding together.

Why use "cast stone using wall tied forms, seems like far more work than needs be"? and not designed and build a minimum 4000-psi (strength) low chert concrete structures (preferably no chert if available) or use the Swiss 45 psi code (atmosphere pressure)

It was just a thought. Concrete housing would be more energy efficient. I believed cast stone would be more weather resistant. Having a survival garden would also help repel against predators. The total idea is for a collected group effort to survive. Cross training jobs and responsibilities focusing to keep everyone fit and prepared for any and all encounters.

I have heard this before, the last time the one wanting to do this had no skills to offer other than it was his idea,,,,,and did not have much use for hunters or farmers,,,,good luck

I encourage the community to farm and hunt. I am an army vet, i also have first aid skills, exp in communications. I was a fire direction control specialist for artillery.
