I'd probably just use my hose and fill it up with water, thats what i did for the jacuzzi haha. But the hose thing is a really good idea. I'll probably treat the water just in case, cause im kind of lazy. Also keeping it out of sunlight? depend on the type of container or what?

The RV hose is a must and not an option and only use these hoses for drinking water, every prepper that has a water heater should already have a RV hose ;) keep out of light particularity sun light grow lights etc... and keep the water storage containers off concrete, the only containers that can be stored on concrete is glass, metal containers rust becomes an issue.

I have a perfect area in my backyard thats up against a fence and out of sunlight most of the day, and not on concrete. Why cant the plastic containers sit on concrete? (what if i were to build a small wooden platform??)

If plastic containers are on wood then it is no problem, plastic under certain circumstances will leach chemicals out of the concrete if setting directly on concrete for a long period of time thus as a precaution its best to store on wood.

not sure..but im thinking there's different grades of containers.and im also thinking that it's a all around best idea to keep all water storage containers away from any direct sunlight.thats why i need to change out the water i keep in the van..on acount its been there a few days now.and that means direct sun light, and what heat we've had so far.if i remeber right.direct sunlight will warm/heat the water.and at least cause it to stagnate..to say the least..

Temperature doesn't affect water as much as one would think though sun light and heat promotes bacterial growth, water in of it's self doesn't really go bad but most plastic water bottles are not made for heat and may cause a heat induced leaching problem in plastic water bottles.

Jim, I keep a case of water bottles in the trunk of the vehicles and change the case out every 6 month, if not used, I give the water to the animals or water the plants with it as not to waste it, I even dranked water that was a year in the trunk and it was fine even after some wild temps.

this is what i keep in the van...there's 8 of the pink ones,at 32 ounce's each.and the 3 clear ones at 2 at 32 ounce and 1 is half gallon.total for all of them.is just over 3 gallons.pluss i have 32 ounce bottle here in the house, for water.instant iced tea or what ever.

p.s.. i fill them straight from the tap..so i dont really want to take any chances with them.if someone needs to drink any of it.so i change them out once every month or 2..
