I thought this topic deserves it's own thread (separate from the SCOTUS thread).

https://www.citizenfreepress.com/breaking/ginsburg-retirement-rumor/

The rumors have started. It makes sense. Breaking 3 ribs just falling in the office is a sure sign that she's done. Sure, one of us might break 3 ribs... falling off the roof. But this was standing in a building. And she's already had numerous health issues.

And she's 85 years old. I've got rocks younger than her. There are fossils younger than her (true). She was born during Hitler's rise to power. She is older than the jet engine. She is older than the nuclear bomb. She was a child when Pearl Harbor was attacked. At this age, you don't just bounce back from breaking 1, 2, 3 ribs.

The left will go insane. Paging Ted Cruz, Ted Cruz please report to the President's Office.

RGB hates President Trump and will hang in there as long as possible. She knows the court will have an even larger constitutional majority if she retires / resigns. Her real hope is that president Trump is not re-elected in 2020. If he gets re-elected, then she will depart, she will not be able to endure 4 more years of being out voted.

We will find out in about 2 weeks. The next court session for SC starts then. RBG has never missed court time. I don't know how an 85 year old fossil can recover from 3 cracked (or broken?) ribs in that time frame. Normally 1-2 months recover time is needed. And that's for a healthy younger person. I agree though, she likely abhors Trump and would rather die than let him pick her replacement. That makes it all the sweeter!

Here's a more official story...

https://www.smobserved.com/story/20...he-us-supreme-court-in-january-2019/3658.html

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has had a re-occurrence of malignant melanoma, she has told her law clerks. Ginsburg was treated in 1999 for colon cancer and had surgery in 2009 for pancreatic cancer.

She has told key Democratic members of the Senate about her medical condition, including ranking Democratic member of the Judiciary Committee Dianne Feinstein. This explains in part the "take no prisoners" attitude of the Democrats during the Kavanaugh nomination, carefully orchestrating weak 37 year old allegations against Kavanaugh by Women he barely remembers knowing in High School and College.

Allegedly she will retire in Jan. To be honest, it makes sense, as there's really nothing else the Dems can do to slant the court the other way at this point anyhow. She stuck it out to see if they could block Kav, but since they couldn't, there's really no point in her sticking it out.

I read she was up and about the next day. Maybe she is The Grim Reaper incarnate

Not sure why she's holding out. The court is already slanted conservative, she's holding out to be replaced by another liberal after 2020, but even if that happened, it just stays the same....so not sure why she doesn't just finish out the rest of her life with family.

Maybe her family don't want her ;)

G, you are trying to apply logic to a decision made by a liberal, a wacko-leftist liberal... She has a bizarre hope that she can outlast Trump. Slanted conservative is one thing, if she drops out then it'll be a strong conservative swing. It'd kill her to see that! She'd rather die trying to survive... a hopeless dream!

That is my take. She hopes to outlast President Trump. That is her only mission in life now. Even if another Republican wins in 2020, she would have not given President Trump an opportunity to pick her replacement. I am betting she dies while still serving on the bench. The President gets re-elected in 2020 and she has a stroke, not hoping but just a possibility. The Democrats are too stupid to see that they are being played with all these law suits that are going to end up in the Supreme Court. They would be smart to fight the battles in congress and leave the legal battles until they can swing the court again. It is a lot harder to over turn a Supreme Court decision verses setting a new precedent. Every Supreme Court decisions he wins, will establish precedent. A message to the liberals ---- SIASD.

Of course, any of us average Joes, at 85, the docs would have just said for us all to say our goodbyes....as we would be deemed too risky for surgery.

RBG needs a DNR. (do not resuscitate)

(edit)
She is amazing in one way. This is her 3rd go-around with cancer. Second one was pancreatic cancer about 9 years ago. The average person lasts 6mo-1 year with pancreatic cancer. A big part of her pancreas was removed. Her spleen was removed.

No wonder she is so small, half her guts have been removed! But her clock is ticking, she can get lucky for only so long...
