I bought the plans to a tiny house (trailer version) and I am going to make it into my own version of a prepper home as well. It will be solar powered, have a rain collection system, compositing toilet, and plenty of storage.

To cover the question of storage the floor will have compartments for storage and the loft where I would sleep would also be used for storage. My bed will be on the main floor in a Murphy Bed set up.

What else do you guys suggest I do?

Have you thought about putting in a couple slide outs, similar to what most travel trailers have? They look like they're easy to build and would add a lot of space.
Are you planning on having a backup generator? What are you going to use for heat/AC?

Not knowing your finances. Save yourself a lot of future repairs and use aluminum structural H beam's in place of wood for the framing and get a Mig or Tig welder that welds at least 3/16, the cheaper Lincoln welders only welds 1/8

I was debating the slide outs. Foror heating I was thinking of a mini wood burning stove like a Salamander Hobbit and Pipsqueak and for AC maybe a window AC unit.

What area are you looking at relocating to? I am wondering why you would want or need an A/C unit? It will draw a tremendous amount of your power reserves. Have you ever lived in or tried to live in just 160 sq. feet of space? You are looking at the size of a small cargo Container (20' x 8'). So what is the advantage of building a trailer type vs. a container home? If you are just going to park this on your property, then why a trailer type?

I right now I will be in Indiana and will need the AC in the summer. Also I pretty much already live in 160 sq.ft. I spend most of my free time at my apartment and use only a small position of the kitchen. Why a tiny house on a trailer compared to a shipping container house? Simple I might be moving at some point in the future to get out of Indiana and it is a whole hell of a lot cheaper and smarter to invest in something I can live in, own, and then move than building something that is stuck in one spot.

It will be interesting to see how your plan develops. Solar system requirement vs. appliance vs. building codes vs. mobility. I look forward to your updates. Not saying it is not doable, cause it is, just curious how it all turns out.
