I used to have one,25 -30 years ago they are tough,I lost mine then one day cleaning out a old fire pit,there it was the rubber handle was gone,it was pretty much toast,,,somehow I managed to lose it in the fire,,,,these are great as long as you don't drop it in a fire and burn crap on top of it for a couple years,,,,,,,,,,,,,after seeing this I may hunt around and get another one

don't under sell Ontario Knife company,their stuff is not pretty but everything they make is tough and very functional

I love Ontario Knife Company...one of my favorite knives I own is the Blackbird.

Im going to order one especially after what you said about em. I had no idea they have been making them that long.

60 bucks on amazon. Not cheap, but good reviews. I have two cheap machetes that are crap quality. I wouldn’t want to rely on them.
