It took a while to get my fiance interested in prepping. The best way in my opinion to get your significant other interested in the prepper lifestyle is to just have fun doing it on your own and eventually she'll want to join in on the fun. Trying to force her to prep when she doesn't want too will just make her more resentful about it.
No doubt, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

I spent 2 days pressure washing and told husband we could could knock of the sealing today.

Daughter and I had a bet that he wouldn't help.

This morning I woke him to go get the supplies. He said he was going to visit his mom. My part is done. I won t do it ever again.

Too bad it too a tornado, but I'm glad he's seeing the light.
Well, while it did take the tornadoes, none of them actually hit us, but the flooding that occurred with them, made home think about the difficulties that the semis might have bringing food and water in. So at least it wasn't a major disaster for us that caused his change of heart.

Glad it didn't have to get to that point for him to see the light. :) Stocking up is a blessing in more than one way.

My answer to bottled water for the next hurricane will be simple and cheap.

I already have several water filters.

So, I'll fill up a clean, unused 30 gallon garbage pail with tap water.....and just drink from that, using my Katadyn ceramic water filter with the activated charcoal prefilter.

I think that if I use these ideas, it shouldn't matter how stale the water gets from sitting around.

i was not only living in a rent house before moving to where i live now.i was living with and doing for my mom untill she passed away.i started prepping a few years ago.in which she thought it foolish when it comes to stocking up on certain things.like flashlights.lanterns. rechargeable batteries. and battery chargers.then we had a power outage that lasted well after sunset.needless to say that she was happy that i had a lantern for her to use.i now have 6 battery operated lanterns.seeing how she bought 2 broklyn lanterns and 2 different ones... then i started stocking up on foods.mainly canned and dry foods..theni got into home canning. she finally liked that.simply because that means food to eat during a power outage. and we get to leave the fridge and freezer alone.she even bought a emergency am/fm/noaa emergency radio.

Jim, get some of the Cree LED flashlights that use Lithium ion 18650 batteries. "Cree" is the maker of the LED itself, they have a much brighter/better light. I just looked, search ebay for "3000 Lumen Zoomable CREE XM-L T6 LED Flashlight Torch Lamp Light 18650". $3, free shipping, and 3 colors to pick from. Very bright. Lots of recharges on the batteries. Very rugged. Long life, and extra Lithium batteries are $1.

i plan on looking into flashlights and other items eventually. but i need house hold items first. like toilet paper.1st aid supplies.and light bulbs.especially seeing how im finally getting my paypal built up.
