I did a little up grade on my tomahawk,,,,,,,I got a wild hair and bought this little fellow

it looks like it would do serious damage,,,,bigger than a normal Tomahawk but still small enough to use as a weapon

That is close to the size and configuration of a hunting axe. They were (and still are some places) used for not only camp chores while hunting, but also for skinning and butchering large game.

the axe showed up today,,,the head is real nice but the handle was so loose it fell out of the head,the head had been epoxied in place and was never going to hold up,,,I am just going to replace the handle,,the quality of the wood is not much to talk about

Try hammering a shim or 2 into the top of the handle.

the problem with the original handle is it is brittle my first thought was a wedge,I put one in and the handle split looking closely I could see cracks in the wood

I found a replacement hickory handle today ,I have fit it to the head and I have epoxy to finish the job
