@Squirtgunsquirter Good video but the catch is how to establish that network of people. As Venom Jockey used to point out, there is always the ego problem of who is in charge verses those that feel they should be in charge but are not. Too many MAG's fail and fall apart and that leaves the disenfranchised with the knowledge of where the supplies are kept. I like Oldcoot's plan but not sure how it will actually pan out. He has a lot of the bases covered and a good working knowledge of the people involved but that knowledge is all based on how they are during normal times.

I plan to go the Lone Wolf (Family only) plan. Each of us will make our plans and time will show how each plan worked out.

the ever so important human factor, a good human might turn bad in shtf and vice versa, that's why I mostly do as Up, prep for my family, really can't count on those living
in the same building as I do,one strong reason why I declined the offer for emergency responsibility person...

Here, we pretty much have a MAG. This is the main property,The Farm.

Me (Levi), Egg, Roy, Idiot, Jason, Jerry, I would include Dawn and Angie even though they don't do much here, they would if needed, Hans (battling cancer, so iffy) and three or four other guys that come and go but would be welcome.

All three of the closest neighbors, we already do a lot of barter, and help around each other's property.

Here, Johhny John John would be in charge. He's head and shoulders above the rest of us when it comes to common sense and maturity, and everyone knows it.

I'm by far the most highly trained shooter of the group, even out of the two other vets. No one else is doing drills, so Lovell has a point about the difficulty of group training.

But it's doable. In a SHTF situation, I would totally trust John (here John, not Lovell) to make excellent choices.

Everyone else? I think they would let John lead. If for no other reason than they all fear responsibility.

MAGs can work.

I'll refresh my memory of old coots plan.

The breakdown

My kids and there family have homes on the property, I have 900 connected acres we are on. between my Wife and I we have 6 kids 17 grand kids one of the grand kid is married and she has a child on the way.

Mav!

That is great, man! I like to hear how other members are set up, the skill sets, the family. To me it's all about that, we are, in some distant way, connected to your community. Everyone here is connected to mine, I talk about stuff we discuss on the forum, I show a few guys posts, and certain threads I think are useful.

It's slow, and distant, but the community thing works.

I'm glad you have yours.

Jontte, obviously you would be in charge, out of respect for elders if nothing else. ;)

SGS,and if they don't obey my authority I'll swing at them this ;

though it would be great to have a group, build and train with it

I've said this a few years back on the forum, We are lone wolfing it and the reasons why? we know each other inside and out, we know what the other is thinking without saying a word, things get done without any of us saying anything, we know each others habits, likes and dislikes, we know how far to push one another, we all trust our lives to one another. We all have blood sweat and tears invested in getting this place running the way we feel comfortable. One can't expect a stranger to come here thinking they can fill the shoes of any one of us and perform the job(s) in silent (without having to be instructed) with one exception, I would love to have an o'l time Blacksmith here!

Same. We've all known each other all our lives.

It would be rough and Rocky to just form up a group of people.

That's why Lovell (he's a Christian) pushes the "common bond" aspect. He's referring to Christianity (although, I'm not sure that alone would mean harmony) but it could mean family and friends as well.

After being here a couple months now, and looking at what we can do just drinking and messing around, I can't imagine going all alone. Man, I'd be screwed. Break a couple fingers? Done.

I would encourage anyone to find some like minded folks now, even if you don't dive in in a prepper fury, just know who you could link up with.

I can't tell you the peace of mind I have now, knowing I have a few brothers and sisters in arms, so to speak, compared to living in the city, with a wife who fought every thing I thought made sense.

Soo much nicer.

I understand the common bond in Christ but then one has the likes of jim jones, tony alamo, david koresh etc... that may start off being in Christ but end up revealing the devils hand. Proclaiming a following of Christianity won't get one a free pass on this property, only a damn fool would have that kind of trust. I have seen good Christians and I have seen bad ones, I see very little differences between Christians and the rest of the worlds heathens. I go to a good small Southern Baptist Church with a congregation of probably 20 who are all older than I am, the Preacher would invite himself over for dinner just to ask me why I wasn't in Services of course I'll tell him the truth, I was busy with the animals and he will tell me I'm lying and the reason why I didn't go because I didn't want to get dressed for Church, by then I knew he talked to my Wife. After 45 minutes of preaching to me we ate, he had a beer and I had a tall shot of Whisky and he gone home. I get a visit from him one or two times a month. He's a good Christian Preacher a damn good man, they ain't many Preachers like him anymore.

A real Lone Wolf (1 person) is just one accident away from extinction. Family of Lone Wolves is the best option in my opinion. Local community is maybe better than single Lone Wolf but I am not betting on it. If you think your group is good to go, take them out on a two week hike, with only one week worth of food. Let me know how it works out. Oldcoot has the community plan down pretty well but I am not betting on his plan either. Good to go during normal times but not sure how well they would work out under duress or very stressful times. Like Mav, my family is a very well know commodity. SQS, may have a good group too but again, how will they interact under very stressful situations. The military practice and train under very stressful simulations and they still get surprises from member of the team, once they hit actual combat. The Lone Wolf family I think has the best chance for survival. JMHO

I wouldn't disagree, but this is what I got. Need to make the most of it, and honestly, I appreciate what I have right now.

Two week hike? For half, no problem. The other half, no way. Lol. Unthinkable.

But that's not what they have going for them.

With my new GF, we even have some medical training, more than my long past EMT course.

Man, it's never going to perfect. I don't even ask for that.

There's a lot going on in the world. I don't live in fear, but I'm happy to be here, now, that's a fact.

One of the group got a nice ten pointer this evening. Heavy body. Venison jerky! Two does being processed at far and away, as well. Looking like a good start to winter.

@Squirtgunsquirter I think you do have a good start and probably better than most have or will have. I guess my posting is just a way of telling some to not get to comfortable and to other to think about what is possible. OR --- I just may like to see myself type.

With the Hornady online ballistics calculator (the one I use)

https://www.hornady.com/team-hornady/ballistic-calculators#!/

There is a little check box under "NAME FOR CALCULATION" that is easy to overlook:

"Show Advanced Calculator Features"
If you check it, you can change to a G7 Ballistic Coefficient, and set the Wind Speed, Wind Angle, Altitude, Pressure, Temperature, and Humidity.

They also have an option to use a 4DOF Ballistic Calculator, but you have to use a bullet in the list (mostly Hornady bullets, but they have some Nosler, Sierra, Berger, and Laupa bullets listed too)
