Outside activities in my area are almost non-existent. Something to about the local temps. LOL I suggested to the wife we go out for a walk. She just pointed at the thermometer and went back to watching "Little House on the Prairie". Local outdoor rifle range did reopen, so maybe next month I will stop by and test out my reloads. Pretty easy to maintain distance at the range. If the experts are right about high temps, the china virus does not stand much of a chance at my range. Shoot :D

I haven't seen any change in the number of people who are out and about around here. Most people in my area ignored the stupid "stay at home" orders. People are still out fishing, swimming, camping, hunting, putting up hay and cutting firewood as usual. The ranchers are moving their cattle out to open range now. Life goes on, but some things have become more difficult, and more expensive, due to facist government actions.

We are starting to see inflation kick in more now. Food prices in particular have gone up but it’s starting to spread through most industries. With unemployment near 20% and inflation combined this is where prepping will become all the more important.

So with all the people out and about without doing any social distancing and wearing masks, I started to chart the infections in my county. Increase in deaths take about 10 days to catch up to increase in new infections.

Looks about like what's happening here in my county. We had a retirement community hit pretty hard just this past week. It's not even a "nursing home" for people with health problems, just a community for older people (who don't want to live around all the youngsters, I guess).

New Zealand started out with the goal of flattening the curve to prevent our health care system being overwhelmed. We ended up having 24 consecutive days with zero new cases (which ended today when two people returned from overseas with covid-19). We're lucky because we have no land boarders. But our borders are our achillies heel when it comes to covid-19.

Edited to fix spelling

They should test all upon arrival and quarantine them until the tests are negative.

Normally they quarantine for two weeks but they made an exception for compassionate reasons. They've said in the future a negative test result will be needed before a compassionate exemption is given.
Too little too late. Not even a week with zero active cases and they've already slacked off

Oz, Taz and Kiwiland need to stay in lockdown as Al Jazeera reporting second outbreak in Beijing and some suggest is a more virulent strain or even a different strain, stay safe antipodeans.

Yes, being rich enough gives automatic exemption. Our government thought we wouldn't notice

I am seeing queues of people on the news crowding into newly reopened clothing stores, no social distancing, so I expect there will be a second wave of infection.
We as a nation in general have learnt nothing and act like covid-19 never reached our shores. People were justifying their actions by saying "there's no active cases, we're safe".

No, we're not safe, our "she'll be right" attitude will be our undoing. My partner and I are prepping for round two. We currently have enough supplies to not have to leave the house for 3 months. We own our own company so can work from home but a second lockdown will probably be the end of our company. We'll be able to start again and rebuild so we're not too worried.

Already started here. Actually we mostly dodged the first wave so this is really the first wave for us - finally hitting due to people not distancing anymore.
