Hello! I am a 17 year old guy from The Netherlands. I am worried about a World War 3 coming up... With the Middle-East situation and the Russia/Ukraïne/Netherlands situation and all. Problem is, nobody takes me serious, not my friends, not my parents etc. They think it is just a joke. So i want to prep maybe a little bit alone, for when shit really hits the fan. So where do i begin as a teen? I have a part-time job in a restaurant that pays between 20-40 euro's a night, but my days are not consistent. We also have weapon laws here which makes it almost impossible to aquire guns and even most knifes here are illegal.

Another question, a plane just flew over. It flew pretty low, it made a lot of noise, it moved pretty slow and the only light i saw on it was a big, red, flashing light. I've never seen this one before and planes fly over every day here. Anyone know what it might have been?

1st..if you or anyone else knows gardening..stock up on seeds of vegetables that each of you already eat.
2nd.store bought canned and dry foods they each of you eat.
3rd,bottled water.from pint size bottles,up to 1 gallon size.
4th.it dont have to be a fire arm or a knife to be a weapon.you have a axe and/or hatchet on hand? make spears and other weapons.
5th locate a bug out location..then plan several on road and off road routes to it.and include maps to it.even train tracks can come in handy.(if there is any) between where you are and bug out location.even if the location is a abandon hunting cabin...

sounds like to me that the plane was having engine problems, when it comes to what you posted..

And any information on prepping and surviving in an urban setting? Not much in the way of agriculture near here, so i can only do small-scale home growing. Lots of stone and ashalt here.

im living in the country.but yet i have a garden in my backyard..the size of garden im going with this year,is large scale garden for me.oh there is plenty of areas thats idea for me to have one.but yet i choose to have it close enough to the outdoor water faucet.where i can run a hose and to it and water it as i need to..if you can have any gardens at all in your yard.look the directions over for each type of seed carefully because some are good in direct sunlight all day.while some need at least partial shade in the afternoon..then look the yard over for different garden locations.and with you being 17 and all.might want to talk with your folks about the garden(s)..look for good water sources that you can get to for after a shtf situation.so you can get to it when needed..

I don't know what all stores are available, but at our local home improvement store, I found food grade 5 gallon buckets for about 3 dollars and gamma seal lids for about 8. I bought a set and was quite pleased. Load em up and you can get 35 pounds of rice in them, so I hear.

take a map of your surroundings, look really close at it and plan a few escape routes for you.. do get your self a good backpack where you can carry your stuff and a good knife, quality knife is something you must have

Along with planning an escape route, you don't want to go empty handed. Here is an excellent article on prepping a basic bug out bag. Start with one for you - and it doesn't have to be a military backpack. You're better off with a backpack like you would use for school. You'll blend in better that way. If you can get one put together for yourself, then perhaps do one for each of your family members. For now, keep everything as simple as possible. You can upgrade later if time and finances allow.

As above, a bug out bag (or BOB as we call it), is your starting point. You could easily put one together for under $50 with the basics. There are TONS of sites and threads on the web about these, but just focus on the basics first:

Water (some on you, ways to purify)
Food (things that don't need to be cooked and keep for a long time, as well as things you can eat while moving)
Shelter (doesn't mean a tent necessarily, just protection from the elements, like a poncho, etc.)
Protection (even a knife is something)
Fire (having at least 3 ways is best)
Communication (like a crank radio, to know what is going on)

Hey y'all. I'm new at this as well & that's some good info y'all listed. QuietH3art that's an excellent article at survival cache.

Try stashing the odd tin of beans and the like when your parents aren't looking mate,if you're caught down the line at least you can show them that it is so easy to prep they hardly noticed.

You can grow many foods in buckets, and these can go anywhere. Potatoes, tomatoes come to mind, as well as many berries. Also, can plant a fruit tree.

Rain collection is another good idea, look into how you can collect your rain in a barrel, including filters to keep out debris, etc. All kinds of good advice on this on the web.

The buckets and gamma lids suggestion above, is right on point. Not just rice though, dry pasta, dry corn, dry beans, dry cereal and oats, salt, sugar, flour, etc. can last a long time, stored this way. (read up on the specifics of each, so you don't end up with a solid block of salt, etc.)

I'm a big believer that a good water filter is a higher priority item than a firearm any day. Stashing some lightweight food supplies is too. Don't get me wrong, I think having some kind of security items for defense is important, but if you don't have water and food then everything else doesn't really matter anymore.

Unfortunately, some people have the idea that if they have a gun, they can get whatever they want.

And equally unfortunately, if in an area where guns are not widely owned, then they are absolutely correct.
