I'm not a big fan of FEMA, but I did take a lot of their advanced training courses through the company I was working for. There is a lot of good information contained in these courses and I'd recommend it.

I kind of think most govt agencies are full of incompetence and waste, but the general idea behind FEMA is good. I also think all knowledge and training you can get from anywhere is wise. Being free is a really good perk. Even something as simple as getting trained to perform CPR and basic first aid could save someone you love one day.

Agreed 100%. As with most government agencies they start out with good intentions but over time they tend to lose their original mission. I earned a lot from the FEMA courses that I took, and maybe I'll take some refresher courses too. My wife just took some CPR and first aid courses last week. Her company is good about providing any training she wants.

Never kept up with my certification, but both the wife and I have had off and on first aid and CPR certification. I've also had lifeguard certification in the past. All good to have under your belt.

Current certificates don't impress me much, but having the knowledge to help someone out is awesome.
