I think that when people are interested in how to protect themselves and their loved ones - this is normal) I would even say that given the current realities, too few people are interested in these issues. In Russia, too, more and more people who feel a kind of "tension in the air", respectively, are somehow preparing for various crises.

what I am about to say may sound strange. Take a look at the history of mankind from a height of at least 1000-1500 years. Terrible wars, well-fed times, the ups and downs of various empires. There is another constant thing - these are people who are ready to live not for their own sake, but for the good of their people. People did not hesitate to give their lives for the survival of their relatives and fellow citizens. It was a pledge of survival and always will be. Death is not terrible ... it is terrible when those whom we have to protect are dying. And the participants of this forum can not be doubly afraid. They have an important task is to be prepared and prepare for this their descendants.

I don't prep for myself. I have had a good run, while I don't plan depart anytime soon, it has been fun. I primarily prep for my grand kids and hopefully their grand kids.
That is kinda how I feel. I want to make sure the granddaughters understand our life. If they choose to follow this path or at least retain some knowledge great. I can feel like I have at least tried byintroducing..

It is not only that but to just succeed in life. I had an ex with a teenage daughter, she wanted to be a photographer, went to college for it, decided she couldn't do it, she couldn't. Then decided she wanted to be a writer, she had no talent at that either. I said I'd like to see her do something where she could actually make a living, I was told not to crush her dreams. Well then, I said I just want to see her to be able to take care of herself. Guess, what? She's a waitress at age 36. I hate to see the loss of potential.

Now that the government is saying that everyone should prep food an water maybe we don’t seem as extreme anymore for wanting to take care of our families? What worries me some is that the govt is telling people to prep!
They were doing that even under Obama on the ready.gov site

https://www.ready.gov/

as you dudes and dudettes know,I live in a paradise where all and everything works like a swiss watch ;) ...even here my various agencys tell us to prep,
to get supplies and stuff you can at least cope 72 hrs minimum, they even put a "survival game" online where you can see what your abilities are so to speak.

just makes me wonder..

I could do 72 hrs . . . no problem, even a couple weeks I'd be okay. It's what comes after that I'm working on. I think more people look around and see the potential for such a scenario, which leads them to seek information and advice on how to get prepared.

Life is not about what you would like to do, it is about what you CAN do. Now if you actually can do what you would like to do, then that is great, But don't confuse the two.

One concerning thing is that I'm seeing this more and more from various gov'ts and their agencies. What do they know that we don't... (or that most people don't know...) At least we on this forum have our eyes open.
