I've been thinking of getting a wide mouth Foodsaver jar sealing kit for a while to use instead of buying oxygen absorbers, but as usual, they are not for sale in the UK, so before I splash out a not unsubstantial sum on getting one shipped over from the USA, I'd like to know if anyone has experience with one and how well do they work?
Thanks in advance!

I have used mason jars with a $10 kit in conjunction with a vacuum sealer and it seems to work fine. I used mine for spices.

Well I bit the bullet and had one shipped over along with a Freshsaver handheld sealer to go with it. I got both bought and shipped for less than two thirds the price of just the jar sealer I could buy in the UK.
They will both be useful not just for food preserving, but for long term storage of non food items too.

I really like the attachment to the food saver, but I noticed that newer food savers do not have the right port for the attachment hose that fits over a regular or wide mouth canning lid. I have two food savers where the vacumn works well but the sealer for the bag doesn't. so I am keeping these just to seal glass jars. It really works well I think, great for crackers, cookies, cereal, etc.

I have a Cabelas commercial sealer, and have used the jar vacuum attachment successfully for mainly spices. The attachment here was less than $20. Happy with it!
