As usual, the true crime is the cover-up. I just can't help but wonder what the thinking behind covering up something like this. Do they think it will just go away, like an ostrich sticking its head in the sand? Are there other psychological factors at play? Or are there more nefarious reasons?
They were, and still are, under orders from Beijing to cover China's butt at all costs.

As I said once before...the cover up has gotten so ridiculous, the Emperor has no clothes.

Germany already using a coronavirus tracking app, UK has one coming soon. Finland announce theirs will be ready in June. My question is if anyone on the prepper forum would download it.

I will not download it because i don't want more people tracking me, especially with the possibility of stigmatising people with the virus or even people stigmatising those who haven't caught it, because some believe in antibody protection.

Next comes the coronavirus passport... Looks like it is nearly time to disappear from the system completely and fake my own death.

Wow, so we tell the kids lets play a game called Geheime Staatspolizei where the PM heads the Schutzstaffel

This shit is a Nazi dream

Report: Xi Jinping Asked W.H.O. Chief Tedros to Delay Pandemic Warning

The German newspaper Der Spiegel published a report this weekend stating German intelligence officials believed Chinese dictator Xi Jinping personally asked the head of the World Health Organization (W.H.O.), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, to delay key warnings about the Chinese coronavirus.

Report: Apple Plans to Move Significant Amount of iPhone Production from China to India

Weekly Der Spiegel reported that Xi asked Tedros during the call to hold back information about human-to-human transmission of the virus and delay declaring a pandemic. The magazine quoted Germany’s foreign intelligence agency, BND, which declined to comment Sunday.

Der Spiegel also claimed that the BND concluded up to six weeks of time to fight the outbreak had been lost due to China’s information policy.

The U.N. agency said Tedros and Xi “have never spoken by phone” and added that “such inaccurate reports distract and detract from WHO’s and the world’s efforts to end the COVID-19 pandemic. This seems to be the go to answer from the WHO when they want to deflect from being truthful

The confirmed deaths from COVID-19 are now in the 75,000 range in the US (since February) where as estimated deaths from flu since October is 36,000-62,000 (this includes confirmed flu deaths and then estimates the probable actual death rate from the flu). So even using a high estimate, this has already caused more deaths than the flu in less than half the time.
Of course the economy is still suffering the effects of the lockdowns, despite easing restrictions and starting to get things back on track. Hopefully with smart solutions in place to maintain distance and avoid close contact, we can get the economy opened back up without having cases skyrocket.
It's really a no-win situation and will be for a while. I'm glad I was at least somewhat prepared for something to happen, though I will admit that this particular situation wasn't something I had envisioned.
I also read an article about how everyone should be preppers now because it's just common sense. Sometimes it's very hard not to say "I told you so."

COVID-19 Contact Tracers or Cootie Cops?
Tracing where people have been and who they’ve met can be effective for battling disease. But, oh boy, does it lend itself to abuse.
As if the viral-lockdown apocalypse wasn't already weird enough, now it looks like we'll be dealing with battalions of cootie cops checking on our comings and goings. Technically, they're "contact tracers" and their jobs involve speaking with people who test positive for the novel coronavirus, identifying those to whom they may have transmitted disease, and advising self-quarantine and self-monitoring for symptoms. It's a tactic that has proven useful in other countries when properly implemented, and it's supposed to focus on actual vectors of infection rather than on whole populations. But "properly implemented" is the key here, because, oh boy, does the prospect of an army of government interrogators set loose upon the land lend itself to abuse.

China destroyed the earliest samples of the novel coronavirus, a health official in Beijing acknowledged.

“Based on comprehensive research and expert opinion, we decided to temporarily manage the pathogen causing the pneumonia as Class II — highly pathogenic — and imposed biosafety requirements on sample collection, transport, and experimental activities, as well as destroying the samples,” the National Health Commission’s Liu Dengfeng told reporters.

That statement comes in the wake of demands from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who has cited the unavailability of the virus samples to argue that the Chinese Communist Party is flouting international transparency regulations at the expense of global public health.

“China didn’t share all of the information it had,” Pompeo told reporters last month. "It censored those who tried to warn the world, it ordered a halt to testing of new samples, and it destroyed existing samples. The CCP still has not shared the virus sample from inside of China with the outside world, making it impossible to track the disease’s evolution.”

The virus samples were destroyed after a flurry of tests in late December that “all pointed to a dangerous SARS-like virus,”

China’s National Health Commission ordered the samples to be destroyed on Jan. 3, according to the report. Pompeo suggested last month that the lack of samples and other information possessed by China has slowed global efforts “to both develop therapeutics and a vaccine and to understand where this virus is.”

Mortality rates hint at even higher coronavirus death toll
The official figures include only those deaths attributed to coronavirus, but experts are increasingly looking at data comparing this year's death rates with previous years -- regardless of the official cause.

This "excess deaths" metric raises the spectre of a much higher toll, as it includes fatalities indirectly related to the virus -- for example, people suffering from other illnesses who could not access treatment because of the strain the pandemic has placed on hospitals.

There's also the people who are afraid to go to the doctor/hospital and die of things they could have been treated for. I was reading an article about how the number of hospitalizations from other causes was down, and speculations on why that is. Regardless of the exact reason, this would suggest that there are people out there who need to be hospitalized who are not being treated, so they may well die when otherwise they wouldn't.

I also read an article today about how the virus almost certainly came to the US earlier than they previously knew, likely even before the Chinese admitted it could be spread person-to-person.

Many of those not going for treatment lost their medical insurance with their job.
That's probably part of it too. But people are avoiding doctors and hospitals even in Europe where they have "universal" health care.

Apparently lots of people have decided to take up baking while they're staying at home. This did not sit well with a particular "Karen" (who is actually named Caren). I read this article about how one lady believes she's the only one entitled to be baking right now and to feed her children healthy meals. https://heavy.com/news/2020/05/caren-white-stop-baking-bread/
Read it if you want to wonder how ridiculous people can get, and have a good laugh at someone else's expense.

Health groups ask India to rescind Gilead's patents for Covid-19 drug remdesivir
NEW DELHI: Two health advocacy groups have written to the Indian government asking it to rescind patents given to Gilead Sciences for the drug remdesivir so it can be distributed more fairly to coronavirus patients around the world, particularly in poorer nations.

Drug patents in India are an important issue as many countries depend on generic drugmakers to make and sell cheaper versions of critical drugs to them. Gilead's three patents in India for remdesivir stem from 2009 when the drug was in development to treat Ebola

As meat-processing factories struggle to reopen, govt. documents warn of shortages
As COVID-19 ravages meatpacking plants throughout the country, beef and pork options are dwindling in grocery stores. Consumers are beginning to realize just how much of their meat consumption depends on a flawlessly executed assembly line of some 2,000 workers and a supply chain vulnerable to disruptions. Now, new internal reports from the government warn that some parts of the country may see meat shortages by the end of the month.
“Analysts suggest that meat supply chain disruptions could see 20 percent higher prices than last year and potential spot shortages of meat in certain markets by the end of May,” says an internal government senior leadership briefing slide dated May 12, and reviewed by Yahoo News.

I do feel bad for the lower income or people who lost their job and were trying to feed their families on a very limited budget. The ones who want to take care of themselves and not rely on government handouts. There are some who do make their breads and eat bean and rice on a regular basis. It was hard to find flour and other baking ingredients. Somehow, I don't think this 'Caren' falls into that catagory. . . She came acrossed more like the privileged elite.

I am still seeing our meat department get wiped out on a daily basis on days I go into work with very few selections left. I haven't gone over to look to see if meat prices have gone up in our area yet. The only thing I ever buy is chicken so I probably couldn't even tell you on the other prices. Normally a 10# bag of leg quarters are $6.40 but I wait for them to go on sale for $3.90. It's been a while since I have seen them at that price though. Recently it was $4.90 but that was before the pandemic. I still have chicken in the freezer and in my stockroom for now. Still have plenty of beef and some pork left in there too. I think Benny will be the next best to go into the freezer unless hunny changes his mind. If he wanted to keep him, that would mean having to get rid of Big Momma and I know he won't do that.

Well finally today I left my wife totally shocked as the first time in decades I turned off all of the news feeds in our house. I am sick to death of non stop negative articles attacking Boris and the UK government and Donald and the US government. Not ONE not even ONE news station could broadcast anything positive or refrain from distorting facts or taking the opportunity to attack the UK Conservatives / US Republicans. EXAMPLE sky news.... UK government proudly annouces it has built and opened a facility in Oxford that can produce over 30 ,000, 000 innoculations in under 6 months as soon as one is found. Sky reports it as "" UK government may never find a cure" . its a completely pointless exercise in monitoring UK news sources.
