Alabaster thanks for clarifying about the meet and greet. I agree totally that everything and every idea should be posted for all to see so that we all know when, where, and what to expect and prepare for. Hey just like prepping ain't it ....LOL Seriously though I will be interested in knowing if we will have 1 big meet or divide up the east coast into 2 meets. Whatever is agreed upon makes no difference to me because I really want to go and I will do all I can to help out with whatever. It's sad to say but I haven't seen much on here about the western regions meet. I do hope that will happen still for them.

Thanks for the input, first of all!!

We have decided to do 4 Meet & Greets. We thought it best to do this so it will be easier to attend.

We are still in need of NW and SW volunteers to help find a venue and get info out on this thread for other members. I would like to have one more volunteer(maybe 2) to help me with the NE area. As in the OP, it looks like mastercajun and old_anorak will be heading up SE. They will let everyone know about that M&G location. If you would like to get involved, please contact old_anorak, mastercajun, or myself and we will get you on a team so we can keep a head count. If you decide you'd like to help us out with the organizing, let us know and if we're still needing Team Leaders, we'll assign some duties that you can help us with. Thanks for reading this thread, and please post a link to it wherever you think it will help us gain some more attention and participation.

Alabaster you guys with organazational skills. I'm on board with whatever you decide. Don't worry about hurting my feelings. Tell me what you want or need and I all either tell you its out of my league or consider it done. Don't worry about seeming pushy. Without leadership ....everything fails

OK. It seems that there has been some wires getting crossed. I'm getting confused, so let's get some things ironed out. This is how I understand it as things are now...

-The weekend is the 23rd- the 25th of August. It's the last weekend of the month.

-The places are being worked on... Depending on how many meets there will be. I would like to do 4 locations. If anyone can think of a solid reason to do more or less, I'm open to discussion for sure. Let's clear this up by the 1st of May. That way we can get cracking on exactly where we'll hold these meets.

This is all that I know for sure at this point. If there is other "Absolute" info, please post it up so we can all be in the know. The private messages are cool for some things, but if it pertains to these events, please keep info here so we can all keep up with what's going on and what is being changed.

I wanted to set an "Schedule" for the events(Or classes, etc) so that it could be productive, but totally volunteer. If people want to literally just hang out by their campsites, I'm fine with that too. I was figuring it is a good way to get to know someone if you're learning in a team environment. It's like going to school when we were kids. We can make teams depending on who signs up for what classes.... Or..... We could make it just a weekend of fun and good times. I'm okay with that too. Absolutely! I think getting to know each other and networking is a great idea. My thoughts on the schedule was that it would be volunteer. If people want to learn to fish, trap, can food, make shelter, or take a CHP class, they would have that option. We could schedule 2 events per day that people can sign up for if they choose to. If I'm alone in that thinking, so be it. I have no argument at all to making this a vacation entirely. I think it would be rather relaxing, actually!

Let's get the # of meets settled in the next couple of days. After that, we should be able to settle on locations within another week. Once we set the locations, all we have to do is decide what, if anything, we are going to plan on doing while there. After that, all we gotta do is go and have a BLAST!!!

ps- I hope this is okay with yall. I'm just trying to clarify all the details. I by no means intend to "Take the reigns" or act bossy by trying to dictate what we should be doing and when. I just want to simplify it as much as possible. If I'm coming off as pushy, let me have it. Tell me what you want to do and let's make it happen.
I think that you, I and the others that started this are all in agreement that there should be 4 sections. NW,NE, SW,SE. We were thinking to have the East and West split from the ND and Mn border straight south. The East would be split from Mo. eastward to the coast. The west would be from NE westward to the coast. Let us know if that is good for everyone. Alabaster I for one know that you are not trying to take over. You and I were the ones that came up with this in the first place. I think your idea for having events or classes is a good idea. Alabaster, I would love to take your class if ever we have a meet together. Old_Anorak and I were talking about doing a canning class. If there are any other members that could conduct another class of some kind, they can post it and we will get with them and get the details worked out. I know you will do the same with the NE section. We want it to be a fun meet but also want to learn something. I think the best thing members will come away with is the joy of meeting the other members they have grown close to in the forum. I also want to thank Clyde for starting this site. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have the family we have here. So THANKS CLYDE. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you Big Brother I'm really looking forward to it. Just to meet so many of the family and get to know them and find out and discuss ideas together in person will be so wonderful. There is nothing like family especially family that think alike and willing to get together to help each other prepare and pick up or learn skills they need help with. I for one know I need help in that department. I feel so blessed to have found this site with so many wonderful folks to talk to.

Me too. Me too.... I think once we have an annual meeting under our belts, people will start coming out in droves. I think that the first bunch of us that go will pretty much be the pioneers, but once everyone hears how much fun it was, they wont be able to resist!

yeah thats what im hopeing for..also im hopeing that quiet a few folks turn out for this one

How about dutch oven cooking? That would be a good skill to learn. If we had access to a few rabbits, could teach butchering to those that have never done it.

dutch oven sounds good...and im sure that at least 4 or 5 folks have one..lol..so if 2 or 3 brought thiers.then who ever is thinking of geting thier own wil get a better idea to what thier looking for in one..pluse like ya said,it'd be a good skill to learn..

Thats a good idea Sis. I have almost every size of cast iron, but my dutch oven got busted. I will be getting another one. I want to try to build a solar oven. I got the plans, just not the time. Went to an auction Sat. and picked up an extra 300gal. propane tank for $100.00. It's in perfect shape.

im part of a group in a diff site.and the folks there n me have had some dinner meet n greets and a couple of campouts.i used that when i sat down n talked with my mom.and because of that.i might have a way there.it's just a matter of letting her think about it between now and time for this meet..

besides what i'll be bringing for my self..is there any thing i can bring along to contribute to what we have on hand n all?i've already started a list for me..

When we first moved here, there was a baby possum under our porch. He got so tame that he'd come out and eat with the cats. We'd sit out on the porch and feel something run along our ankles and sometimes it was a cat and sometimes it was George the possum. He lived here for years, we put a little hutch house under the porch for him. Found him curled up in there dead one morning, he's buried out under a lilac bush.
