Everything I’ve read about it is mining was good in the beginning but that ship has sailed by now. Lots of people got really rich in the beginning but I wouldn’t touch it now.

The only way an individual has a ghost of a chance mining Bitcoin now is to be part of a pool. Bitcoin mining is now done primarily by mining farms using specially designed hardware with ASIC chips. (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit)

Some of the other cryptos are still possible to mine with home computers though.
