i agree, love watching it. that's a lot of work to do in such a short period of time.. we all own a lot of what we are into, nothing wrong with that. when i need something, i ask the experts!

Im working on a coal forge now . Something eles I won't have time for . I work 60 hours a week .
I'm planning on getting a forge and some blacksmith tools next year. I'd like to make some knives, hatchets and a tomahawk, as well as some tools etc. I "retired" early 2 years ago but I'm working harder than ever now.

Happens to a lot or people, they retire, sorta. But what you do is up to you. The question is, can you afford to completely retire

I own too many knives to count and the forged in fire show I love. I personally know about 5 different smiths that have been on it. It is just a tv shoe though. Talking to the smiths they say a whole lot of editing is done and a lot of things are shown out of order for drama sake..

Just wondering roninsensei how do you feel about the hog hunting knife as a fighter the one thing I hear against the knives like that is the rubber gurad saying a knife can go through it and cut off your fingers I was wondering with your experience how likely that would be since I remembered you saying a big gurde is nice but not a deal breaker with you also what's your take on the ones with the kncle gurad

The hand guard I believe is made of a hard plastic maybe even glass reinforced nylon. It would stop most knives. Not really something that's gonna happen much. Sword vs knife sure it could but, unlikely in a knife vs knife scenario. I think this blade would do fine for self defense.

The knuckle guard (aka D guard) isn't my favorite because it limits your mobility with the blade. Like if in the middle of the fight I needed to quickly switch to a reverse grip it's difficult because of the size, and in some circumstances, it's needed to reverse grip with the blade facing your arm and that's almost impossible with a full D guard. I believe the ones listed have aluminum handles for added strength.

To big for Me to use as tactical knives but great field / camp knives . If it came down to a knife fight then dont worry about how you trained just lop off the tango's hand .
I like them for what they are made for . Can't waite to get a OSS though .
