Injuries suck, but all you can do is tough it out, keep pushing and make the best of it that you can. Physical therapy is just structured movement and use of the affected area. Using and keeping a joint or body part moving is the best you can do for it.

In August, my husband went out of town on a business trip. He had an incident where he thought he might be having a heart attack. Long story short, it wasn't a heart attack, but they told him to check his blood sugar. He followed up with his doctor, but forgot to ask about blood sugar. He went to an employee health event where they tested it and told him it was high, but he wasn't fasting. I got a meter to test him. While reading the meter instructions, I checked myself. I had numbers that were considered to be pre diabetes. I work around medical people all day.. I was kind of shocked. I am over the age of 45. I am not over weight unless you want to count the 10lbs I can afford to lose. I don't have high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

Diabetes does run in my family. I will NOT be one of those people. If I end up at diabetes door, it will be kicking and screaming the whole way. I have been doing a low carb diet for a week now and running normal blood sugars fasting and post meals. Sometimes prepping isn't always about the house or car ..which I focus on a lot.

Health is paramount to prepping.

Several years ago I posted here a situation that caught me off guard that forced me to be rushed from a side of a mountain to the emergency room one winter. All the years of smoking meat in the smoke house caught up with me, I had an respiratory attack (bronchitis and walking pneumonia ) For a year I couldn't smoke meat, I ended up tearing down the smoke house and installing a commercial one. I had warning signs and ignored them. In January this year after having my annual blood work done the doctor gave me a clean bill of health, being happy about the results the doctor rained on my parade, the doctor told me at my age as soon as you walk through the doors that can change. A few years back he told me, 'I've been a doctor for almost 50 years and I'm still practicing medicine, we can't catch everything in our tests' It's imperative to listen to your body!

One can have the best preps and the best plan but if the most important prep (your body) is being ignored than everything else that has been done regarding prepping isn't worth crap in fact one may become a liability to the family in a SHTF situation.

Look into using cinnamon as a natural blood sugar regulator. I put it in my coffee when mine gets out of wack. I am sure there are others, but that is my go to.

Great advice above! If you're not in decent health then nothing else matters. I'm finding that working a lot out on the road is not so easy to eat healthy. Way too many burgers and fries. I did switch to unsweetened tea at least. Took a while but I actually like it now. Still don't think that helped much against the two loaded hotdogs I had today....

Brent,I have never paid much attention to the fast food is bad for you,,,,my reason for that is,when I was 30 years old I had my first complete physical,it all came back perfect so I didn't change anything even thou the Doc said I should,,

well here we are 30 years later I had a scare and test after test came back clean and there are to many to name, when the blood work came back I was told my BLOOD WORK was better than most 20 year olds,,,,,no problems with the heart were found no restricted blood flow,,,NADA,,,,in the end it was deemed a pinched nerve

my belief is your health is in your DNA,,,,,if your family has a history of heart problems ,cancer, high or low BP ,,,,,whatever,,,,you are screwed

now maybe I was just lucky but I don't think so I think it is all in the GENES you inherit from your parents,,,,,my Grand Father lived until he was 94 and rarely was he sick,,,,,,I think I owe my good health to that old man,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I sure do miss him

I get the pinched nerve thing. You move wrong and parts of your body go numb. Maybe a leg or arm or even half your body. It can scare the crap out of you for certain. Went to go get a dentist check up, which I'll be honest doc and I had a love hate relationship. Sat down in his chair and half of me went numb. I told him I just needed to get up and walk it off. Think he was more worried than me. Checking my eyes for signs of a stroke. Its just from me abusing my back for so many years. Just live with it.

There is no doubt, your genes make a lot of difference in your resistance to sickness. I also know that you can make a difference with lifestyle choices. Smoking is one of the number one things that can overcome even the best genes. I do electrical work for a grocery store chain and have watched as they take perfectly good steak and add fat to it in the grinder for hamburgers. Why I still eat is doesn't make much sense, but damn, cheeseburgers are soooo good! Knowing good choices in life and actually making hem are two different things.
