Lol no way I took that off to do maintenance and in a shtf those bikes get 150 mpg you know how good that is it was super easy to build as well

Just wanted to get some opinions on this. Picked up a mountain bike at the thrift store for 17.00. Might be easier to get the family out on bike than in a car.
I need to get a more rugged bike for bugging out.
Right now I can or run everyone with my carbon fiber road bike, but it won't do me a damn bit of good off road.
I like the trailer ideas I'm seeing on here.

eBay search motorized bicycle and the engine will pop up they range from 80-300 depending on what you want 25cc or up to 66cc like mine

this is a two stroke and is at 89$ bid.

Just a few things to add:

Buy a bike kit, it has tools for tire removal which can be done with a s rewdriver too
but also id recommend a spoke straightener, going offroad can tweek your tires which can be fixed by straightening your spokes

Do like I did look at the thrift stores and flea market. You should be able to find a decent price in ok shape.

cool trailer. thinking about doing something similar but leaving the top on so it can keep the gear and kids dry.

I just started asking around and i ended with one like you are talking about. They just come in horrible colors. I couldn't take it. lol so I striped it.

the colors are terrible,so it might get some camp.

I love the idea of a bike and a trailer! That way I can carry more with me. I would plan on putting off road tires on the trailer though, and shocks if it would take it.

That's what I was thinking. And when the gas runs out at least riding a bike is better than walking.

Since we will be Bugging-In, my goal is to get back home and as a traveling nurse that could take some time. I too keep a bicycle in my truck at all times. I also have a tire pump strapped to it as well as a can of Slime for any potential flats. That being said, for me, a bicycle would serve to get me into the open country and away from immediate insanity. Then chances are pretty good that I might just "borrow" a horse for the rest of my trip home!

Blessings,
Shenandoah

that is a nice trailer..im not sure i would of gone with a metal floor thoe,on acount thats extra whight.fiberglass or canvas flooring..one that can handle what ever whight thatd be on it as well as mom if she's with me..hand held pump fix-a-flat of some kind if i have to head home first or bug out.high dollor punncture resistant tires and tubes for bike and trailer..and maybe a 4 wheel trailer for the balance n stability.and of course the front wheels need to pivit like the front wheels on the ole covered wagons..

Here is a link for Canadians whom wish to build a motorized Bike. My husband just finished his bike out with the 66cc model. And its good and fast he had to use it the other day when our daughter took a seizure. He left the truck at our house and was at his Mothers then sped down the road on the bike.
