Barclays PLC today announced their intention to sell down their 62,3% stake in Barclays Africa (Absa in SA) over 2-3 years. You will not be impacted in any way. Absa is here to stay. Our financial results show solid growth. We will continue serving you as always.

Barclays bank has been operational in Africa for over 100 years now quitting after big loss.
I think 40,000 reduction in bank staff - I recon only half would keep employment as other financial institutions take over.

In a sense what you say holds truth but it will only work in a country that actually believes in the rule of law and in upholding the law, a few years back the polices teeth was pulled at Marikana. The polices actions in this footage was condemned, but what the footage did not show is that the striking workers killed, burned and mutelated two security guards and a policeman in the days before this happened, what the footage also does not show is that these striking workers took part in a "traditional ritual" where they consumed some of the ashes(muti) of those poeple they killed and believed that they would be victorious over the police.

The media shows a slanted view of things quite often. I'm not sure it its with malice or just about getting ratings. Here they bash the police every chance they get. Don't they realize the police are the ones keeping the things together?

Its easier to control uneducated people, there is a controlling force here, not just an angry mob.
True, but i think this is the final phase in their planned revolution, those kids will be idle now no excuse not to join in mass actions, the more schools they burn the more "soldiers" they have.
