A True Doomsday Prepper
After a SHTF event, there will be 3 kinds of people left in cities....
1) Those that hide well, horde supplies, and do small, quick raids on empty locations for supplies (very low percentage will be these folks, about 3 percent)
2) Those that band together in gangs to take from others (about 10 percent of the populace)
3) Those that are victimized by the gangs (the other 87 percent of those left)
The smart ones will have already been living outside the cities, or would have fled the cities in the first wave, after the SHTF. Those who had a place to go, will do ok, but those who didn't, are going to be fighting each other (and trying to attack those with supplies). It's these latter folks that I really plan for.

I think you're pretty close there... I only differ in thinking that there will be more victimizers and fewer victims. Well, that kind of varies, because today's victimizer will likely be tomorrow's victim, just as you see happen today in inner city gang warfare. I hope and pray that there are more folks in the inner city that are prepared than 3%, but you never know. I know when talking to a handful of local, unprepared, pseudoo-tough guys, almost every one of them said they would hit the pharmacy and grocery stores right away... I wonder if they know everyone else is thinking the same thing. I just can't imagine pinning my family's survival on that type of dice roll.

I think the present day homeless are going to fare the best in cities. They already know how to hide and survive, so low learning curve. However, they will also be a lot of the initial victims.
That's why it is a percentage I gave though...because the actual number of folks is going to be less and less soon after. And those percentages are going to fluctuate and change over time.

I think prepping is fun and I have been doing it the part 10 yrs, changing ideas often and finding out more about the moral decline in cities all over the world, so I finally decided to get away from Western Countries and big city's? Finally 5 yrs ago I decided to Bug Out and ended in SE Asia, on a 12 Ha mountain property on a tropical Island? we are 13km/8miles from the Pacific Ocean and 1500 Ft high, growing organic food and have small animals? No Maverick, just a private person offering to start a commune so we have people with different skills, Our property is to big for me to manage by myself, also getting to old for all the physical work, lucky my wife and daughters help?

oh ok, I seen a similar statement to yours that was pitching cave homes for $50.000 to $75.000 in mindanao, philippines
I know about getting too old, I have our kids and grand kids taking care of our property though they have their perks

yes getting older is a bitch, specially if the brain is still sharp or young and bursting with ideas? Its hard to convince people of what is likely to happen, but even if nothing happens we still have a nice property and a healthy lifestyle? The situation in Russia is worrying with a good chance it will go Nuclear? Also the predictions of a Meteor landing in the Atlantic, according to Russian Military sources ? They have been tracking this for a while now and if true then NO Government will tell you until its to late, avoiding panics? That will hit Washington also ??

Washington is not the best place to be if one is scared of volcanoes, earthquakes and nuclear war! we have 5 first wave targets and 6 secondary targets. A meteor hitting the pacific would cause us some problems (depending of size) I will be 2800' up, 130 miles from the coast line so it would have to be one hell of a meteor to flood me out providing it hits the ocean.

That's far enough yes, but Washington is a prime Nuke target? I now realise you're in Washington State and not the city???

A ways from the city yes, we are home to the trident subs, two Air Force bases, large army base and the Hanford site not counting the numerous dams that includes the Grand Coulee dam the largest electric power producing facility in the US, we are a hell of a nuclear target (russia, china, nk)

the sheepherders stove (above) are good stoves (I have two 1 for the tent) they aren't efficient but do the job, if you do go that way get the water tank for them, good for radiating heat and hot water but man these stoves spendy in the UK

You mention the ice storms of 2010. Here in Northern Ireland we actually had a drought because of it due to old infrastructure. Scotland had to send a boat over filled with water!

it's topics like this,that not only reminds me how ill prepared i once was.but how ill prepared i still am..but yet.i have made at least some good accomplishments since i started prepping for the worse.and im better off since i started..i have items that i normally wouldn't.and id be up a creek at times if i didn't have those items.
