Which do you prefer? Skirt or pants?

I wear pants sometimes but 8/10 times I'll be wearing a skirt. The one I made for work is heavy duty cloth and I sewed pockets into it. Most of my skirts don't have pockets which can be annoying. However, I love that skirts are so much cooler. I get really sensitive to heat.
Also, I agree with all the above who say kilts are amazing! I've been trying to get my husband to wear a great kilt for a while but the main hold up is that they aren't 'period' for the persona he plays as in the SCA. I think if I got enough fabric for one in the right plaid he'd wear it.

I may have to come to the other side. . . I wear out my jeans within a year.

Tyler, I've seen the 'man skirts' in question and I want at least one. And yep, I'm a woman. I just like all the pockets and the fact they are made durable as heck. Barbed wire is hell on a skirt hem if it's not good sturdy material.

Anorak, let me know the cost. . . I may just get you to make me one! I am heck on jeans.

Depending on how fancy you want it, it shouldn't be too bad . I abhor putting zippers, much prefer elastic or drawstring waists. Than again I'm looking for comfort and durability, couldn't give a rat's hind end on what someone at the WalMart thinks. I make them long and full.

I reckon pants(including jeans)/shorts (not short shorts they are gross) are the best thing gives you plenty of space to move and you don't flash anyone by mistake :D

I looked for a kilt before but cant find any of the utility kilts when they are being sold.i always find them too late. .:(.....

Cargo pants I don't do skirts, the way I look at it is, if I have to run climb fences I'm not going to be able to do that in a skirt without showing my butt off.

Ladies, how about a compromise. Does anyone remember the split riding skirts that women used to wear when they were first "allowed" to ride astride a horse rather than side-saddle? They still exist! This is my optimum "skirt". You can make them any length with as many pockets as you want. They don't require all those buckles that the "manskirts" appear to have. You can do a regular waistband with zipper or use elastic or drawstring.

Pockets...never enough pockets! Not a big skirt wearer...own a few that I make...full, half calf length and at minimum 2 pockets, and elastic waist! Bought a pair of those "stretchy" jeans from thrift store several years ago, they were a lot more comfortable than denim, lasted just as long...the older I get comfort and covering mean more and more!

I think I would prefer cargo pants. If it's cold you have to warmth and if it's too hot I guess you could roll them up. I also like the pockets and ability to climb or move without anyone upskirting lol or worrying about a gust of wind. long skirts are comfy though.

Haloray, you are spot on. cargo pants are the way to go. We all agree on the pokets, but long pants are a must if you are out in the bush. It offers (some) protection from scratches, snake and insect bites and sun burn. In an shtf situation you really have to take even the smallest inury serious - and try to prevent it at all costs. Better get used to it today! You will find me rarely in skirts (don't get my wrong - I love to dress up, wear heels and put on make up) but I am very content in my cargo pants, blue jeans and long shirts combined with strong outdoor boots strolling through the African bushveld.
