Sounds like you're doing the right thing. Real challenge is ensuring they are hydrated. I'll try and find out today for you.

I add in electrolytes into her water. I know she has been drinking, but can't be out there all the time with it being cheese making time around here and that is almost daily right now (I get one day off from this during the week) to see how much is daily intake is right now, so when I make the Malt-O-Meal mixture, I have been leaving it a little runny cause I know she will lap that all up with no problems. I tend to go out and check up on the sick barn during the rest periods of cheese. Sometimes I get 30 -45 minutes in between steps.

Lost my personal horse to colic the other day. Vet tried all he could but no dice. The other horses miss her too... Fancy was a good gal and I'll miss her terribly.

Never had to bury a 1500 lb animal before. Not only a physical challenge but emotional too. Took all day and that is with a tractor to dig. Something to consider for horse owners. Without the tractor would have cost a lot to take care of the body.

Sad sad days in the household this week.

I'm so sorry for your families loss Mr. Gazrok!
