So all my local shops are well stocked and relaxing limits now. Still limiting amount of people in shops.
There is quite the community atmosphere in my neighbourhood, everyone doing groups and classes outside but socially distanced obviously.
Rainbows have been painted in most house windows and everyone comes out to applaud the NHS together. Its all quite nice.
We have some cases in Leeds but not like London. I had an operation in hospital less than 2 weeks ago and the hospital was very quiet. I will be using this opportunity to get some extra painkillers and bits on the prescription I was given to add to supplies.

shopping in local co-op, all very quiet and well behaved, quiet time between 8-9AM, I only go once a WEEK to get the basics.
no cases in my area, all cases in the south west are on the south coast where the urban areas are(I live in a rural area).
most people seem to be obeying the lockdown and social distancing.

I would love to agree with you Bigpaul but it is more likely heading the way of Amazon drones flying in goods from their robot run factories and farms to homes under permanent lockdown.
This is what happens in the story I wrote about a pandemic (caused by a bio weapon). And then I see it heading that way, and we all know it will be Amazon that contracts with the government and becomes the only legal distributor of supplies. All others will be black market contraband, like J&R in the tv show Jericho.

Ah yes our beloved HoS whose government told us all to shelter in place and not go to the countryside, She bugged out to Windsor Castle weeks ago and her half witted son Charles suddenly developed symptoms of Corona, bugged out to Scotland and miraculously recovered within 3 days. Its amazing just how many rich, influential notables who preached about us all being in it together and telling us to stay in place have vanished from the public eye or relocated away from the Cities.

Damn, UK (and we) don't need this

Boris Johnson moved to hospital's intensive-care unit after coronavirus symptoms worsen, spokesman says

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was moved to the intensive-care unit of the hospital after his coronavirus symptoms got worse, a spokesman said Monday.

Johnson's office says the prime minister has been conscious and did not need ventilation. He asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputize for him, the spokesman said.

UK surpasses Italy’s worst day for coronavirus deaths as 938 fatalities take toll past 7,000
And the true death toll is actually higher as the DoH figures today did not factor in Northern Ireland, Southampton or Charing Cross due to a processing delay.

Today's jump of 938 deaths is higher than Italy’s worst day when 919 people died.

NHS workers sending children to live with relatives
Some NHS workers are sending their children to live with relatives in a bid to protect their loved ones from Covid-19.

Staff caring for Covid-19 patients on the front line are fearful of catching the new coronavirus themselves and potentially passing the infection on to their loved ones.

In a bid to protect their families, some NHS workers have taken steps to isolate themselves outside of work.

Sending children to stay with grandparents, aunts and uncles is one step some NHS staff have chosen to take.

The situation has been likened to children being evacuated from big cities during the Second World War to protect them from bomb raids.

Other NHS workers have started living in hotels, hostels and other temporary accommodation as they care for coroanvirus patients.

Two men caught on supermarket CCTV licking hands before wiping food
Police have made two arrests after two men were caught on camera licking their hands in a supermarket and wiping them over meat, fresh produce and fridge handles.

CCTV images were released by police of the shoppers, who entered the Sainsbury's store in Lancaster Road, Morecambe, at about 1.45pm on Saturday.

The store was thoroughly disinfected and the food had to be destroyed, said police.

Launching the appeal on Wednesday, Inspector James Martin, of Lancashire Police, said: "That anyone could think this sort of behaviour is appropriate or amusing even in normal times is beyond me, but at this time of crisis when many people have been faced with empty shelves in some shops is flabbergasting."

Two men were arrested in Morecambe later on Wednesday, police said.

A police spokesman said: "Inquiries into the incident continue.

"We would like to thank everyone who helped with the appeal. Your assistance is greatly appreciated as always."

Middle classes in south of England 'to blame for stockpiling'

Middle classes in the south of England were to blame for stockpiling, Tesco’s boss suggested, as the supermarket’s data revealed it was less of an issue in other parts of the country.

Shoppers splashed billions on groceries last month, more than at Christmas, filling their cupboards and freezers as the pandemic panic took hold, writes Laura Onita.

As a result, Tesco's sales jumped by almost a third as people began to stockpile, with Londonders hoarding most goods.

Police chief warns officers will consider searching shopping or imposing roadblocks to stop lockdown flouters

A police officer has warned his force will consider roadblocks and searching shopping trolleys to stop lockdown flouters putting lives at risk.

Chief Constable Nick Adderley of Northamptonshire Police said they force will now ramp up the enforcement of coronavirus regulations.

Mr Adderley said the "three-week grace period is over", and people in the county could now face fines or a criminal record.

He said the force may have to resort to more extreme measures such as road blocks and searching shopping trolleys should people continue to break the rules.

Mr Adderley said: "These are not guidelines anymore. This is the law.

"We've had examples of people sunbathing in the park, having barbecues in the park, we've had large gatherings of family members.

"To those people, I am saying 'your time is up'."

Here is a graphing oddity that I found interesting.

Graphing UK deaths vs US deaths and UK deaths per million vs US deaths per million, the two graphs look almost identical.
Except the data sets are swapped.

Almost 250,000 people fled London ahead of coronavirus lockdown

Thousands left London, headed elsewhere in the country, before Britain was told to stay at home

Almost 250,000 people left London before the UK coronavirus lockdown came into effect, figures from Oxford University show.

Data shows that thousands flooded out of the capital toward other parts of the country before people were instructed to stay at home on March 23, with the majority going to the east of England and South East.

Local politicians and businesspeople in Norfolk, the South West and Wales had pleaded with wealthy second homeowners not to leave their homes to travel to the regions, fearing that they could bring the virus with them and put extra strain on local health systems.

Residents of beauty spots in Cornwall and west Wales put up signs asking travellers to return home.

The data, which shows cumulative outflows from London from the start of March until mid-April, suggests that people began to leave in large numbers on March 12, with numbers flattening at just under 250,000 after the lockdown less than a fortnight later.

More people left in the days immediately after the lockdown, but movement levels were much lower than during the previous two weeks.

As of Tuesday, more than half of the exodus was to the east of England, while another 25 per cent went to the south east.

Almost 10 per cent of the total outflow was to the East Midlands, while smaller proportions went to Wales, the West Midlands and Yorkshire.

Dr Adam Saunders, co-leader of the Oxford Covid Impact Monitor project said: "We're confident that the results which have been provided are representative of terminal outflows from London or an 'exodus' effect during the period shown when compared to pre-crisis mobility patterns."

Liz Saville Roberts, a Plaid Cymru MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd in mid-Wales, called on tourists to stay at home last month.

Commenting on the figures, she said: "I understand why many people chose to leave London, but I can only hope that they have now listened to the advice and returned from second homes and holiday lets to their primary residences.

"When this nightmare is over, communities like the ones I represent will be welcoming people back with open arms, but right now for the sake of those people travelling and those who live here 365 days a year, we need people to stay home.

“The capacity of our health services is already stretched and our doctors, nurses and other frontline staff are already putting their lives on the line to meet the existing capacity. "

Data for Birmingham and Manchester, the UK's second and third cities, shows a more mixed picture.

Thousands left Manchester for London, while post-lockdown more than 30,000 have travelled to the city from Yorkshire or the rest of the north west. Meanwhile more than 200,000 people have left Birmingham for the rest of the west Midlands.
