Here I am again....pointing out the unpopular things you don't want to hear.....but should want to.

There are many Preppers that are Red Pilled and aware about Transaction Tracking. They are beginning to think that Crypto Currency may be a safe alternative. Like any transaction, it is prudent to know the possible consequences of utilizing present systems of purchase and transfer of funds.

For those that can and will avail themselves of the Information in the following link.....you have been informed, please use Bitcoin wisely as any System.

Thank you and God bless.

My apologies to TexasFreedom....Yes Sir, your "green paper stuff" is good...."FOR NOW"......and the discussion thread was for those that are considering Bitcoin or other Crypto Currencies.

Thank you and God bless.

Ben, let's have fun. How many scenarios are there where a bitcoin is worth it's current 'value' and a dollar is worthless/seriously-devalued? I'm not seeing one that is viable. If the dollar collapses, the Bitcoin will be milliseconds behind it.

And consider the opposite. EMP? Bitcoin disappears, dollar may have value for a few days/weeks. Grid failure? Same.

And there are options where both fail. Economic collapse for one.

So tell us where Bitcoin is a good thing as a prepper?

There are better, anonymous, fungible cryptocurrencies out there. But like @TexasFreedom said, they will all be useless after SHTF, especially if it is because of an economic collapse, or in case of something like an EMP.

Hey Folks...

To be clear the admonition was to those considering the use of Crypto Currencies. I wanted them to have some good understanding about their usage, thus the posted link. I am not in any way recommending them. In truth my good Prepper friends, I recommend cash only without receipts for Extreme Preppers and Bartering which is under utilized. (NOTE: Extreme Preppers painstakingly consider every step they take. They are thorough). If the Extreme Preppers are wise they will overstock for Bartering purposes. There is a network of exclusive Extreme Preppers that can very effectively utilize a Bartering System. You will not find these networks online. Serious Preppers can canvas their local regions, this will flag your interest and they will find you. Don't be a dick as you would not be a good candidate. If you can't figure out what constitutes a "DICK", then you are one and should downgrade to being a Casual. No offense. Please forgive me but dicks are of no value to anybody.

For Serious Preppers and Casuals, Cash and Bartering still apply and is still highly recommended.

Casuals probably understand and are not concerned with transaction tracking, nor should they be as their agenda is exclusively related to disaster prepping.

Serious Preppers....those kind of in the middle. Can utilize some other forms of Monetary transfer with certain anonymity knowing that the transfer is being tracked but they are somewhat protected behind a variety of , shall we say sneaky scenarios.

Still for everybody, I can't emphasize overstocking enough. If you overstock a variety of goods. Those goods are in circulation now and available to others within a safe "Don't ask, Don't tell" Barter system. In my humble opinion, I see no other safe and viable method of provision. This includes all Food stuffs, Seeds, Equipment of all kinds, Fuels, Medical supplies, Weapons and ammo, etc, etc, etc.

Common sense is not all that common nowadays.

God bless and Thank you.
Ben.

What about precious metals? Is that considered bartering?

Kate asks a good question. There is the technical answer, where 'barter' is trading a commodity for another without the use of money. Gold to a degree is wonderful long-term form of 'money'. While historically every currency has eventually failed and become worthless, gold does not drop like that. Gold will go up and down (as every currency does), but it keeps its inherent value unlike paper that turns into toilet paper.

As a prepper, having a 'commodity' that I can exchange later post-USdollar-devaluation is a smart thing to have. Gold/silver certainly fits into that 'need'. Now the idea that cryptocurrency will survive a SHTF event is near-zero. I can see where the original poster is saying that your purchases today with credit cards can easily be tracked and a cryptocurrency will not be traceable like a credit card. But a cash purchase is 100% just as untraceable as a crypto, and without the high risk of the yo-yo valuation of those cryptocurrencies.

OK, maybe if you are kidnapping people and wanting payment in bitcoins, that's a great strategy. Go crypto. Or if you hack people's computer and require crypto-payments, sure. But I'm hoping nobody here is in that business.
