Ingredient amounts will vary with the size of your family.

Meat: I prefer ground sirloin, but nearly any kind of ground meat will work, from ground beef to ground camel.
Tomatoes: Diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and tomato paste.
Peppers: Chopped jalapeno, banana peppers, and red/yellow/green bell peppers.
Other: Chopped onion and Portobello Mushrooms.
Beans: If you want beans, Kidney beans or Pinto beans.
Thickener if necessary...cornstarch.

Brown the meat, etc., before mixing in the rest.
I use the crockpot, bring it to a boil then put it on low and simmer for at least two hours.

Enjoy!!

Good recipe VJ. Chilli is one of my favorite winter time meals.
For mine I start out with browning chunks of steak, spicy ground pork and bacon ends and pieces. Then add to crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce, cumin, chili powder, garlic, basil, organo, chives, couple table spoons of hot sauce and a little liquid smoke. Then add chopped jalapenos, habanero, ghost peppers and Thai chilli's. I like to grill the peppers first, but do it outside!
I never add water to my chilli but will add beer and/or tequila. No beans ever go in my chilli.
I put it all in a big pot and set it on the wood stove to simmer all day. It's always better the next day.

Over 950, just in this one book. I knew Herb and Chris, they were good friends, may they rest in peace.

In Texas we are not supposed to put beans in our chili. . . Guess my Yankee parents had some kind of influence on me. I put pinto, kidney and chili beans.
My mom is from TX and she puts beans in her chili - but she used to be nearly vegetarian so I think that's why. But that's why I often put beans in mine, though not always. Just depends on how I feel that day.

To me putting beans in chilli is just plain blasphemy. A good quality chilli (such as mine) doesn't need a filler like beans.
