yeah, opening a preppers store probally would be extremly slow at least.if not fall through the floor..but once people realize to whats going on.and how things are getting wrose.they'll start preping for the worse.but thats only if they can by then.and i see the vaule of the amirecan doloar going down, where what may cost $2.00 today may cost $5.00 next week if not next month..

It would probably bomb at first but then pick up as things keep getting worse. It would be nice to own the store, because when SHTF you will be extra ready :)

You may be surprised. A store can carry all kinds of things handy to BOTH preppers and campers. As long as the prices were fair....

If our economy doesn't crash in the next few years, I might run with the idea of a prepper/camper store. But I would really want it to be more of a 4 quadrant store.

1. Camping
2. Prepping
3. Army Surplus
4. Food/"Grocery"

That would be a great store in my opinion!

I think it would be an excellent idea for a 4 quadrant store. But what location would you choose? A city, a town or a more rural area where more people are into hunting, guns, camping etc? Do you know where the most prepping is being done?

haha no I have no idea where I would put it. I do know from being a member of A.N.T.S that a large portion of preppers tend to be in the northern states. I would probably stay in Oklahoma (even though there is a small chance of me ever opening this store), I would expect a large portion of the sales to come from online sales though.

yeah that is simon i wonder if they make them larger then that so you can carry more..

Friends dad had a newer vw bug that he ran veg oil in just mixes with kerosene then filtered down twice as long as the second filter is more fine( can't remember technical term) then the stock filter you should be fine. He got 41 unmodified at 29 cents he made out good.

I have diesel jetta that I thought about converting but I have never had a chance to dive into it.

Just get two 50 gallon drums and put them on a slope top drum has the first filter second one has the spout and second filter so when you fill a can or two a third drum. Gravity wool do all the work

I have a 2001 Land Rover Defender 110 that I'd run on vegetable oil for over a year. I started out with cooked oiled from local take-away restaurants. It was free but had to be filtered which takes ages no matter how you do it. It works as is. Fuel efficiency is down about 10% compared to straight diesel. However, you can process the vegetable oil and hugely increase its efficiency by separating out the glycerine.

To do this you make up a solution of sodium hydroxide (lye) and methanol and add this to the vegetable oil and stir. After a relatively short time the mixture separates out and the stuff at the top is biofuel. I had a set up with 2 oil drums based on a design used by cannabis producers to make cannabis oil that worked really well as the glycerine could just be run off by opening a tap leaving me with a much better fuel.

I got about 6.5 miles per litre on diesel between 5.5 and 6 on used oil and almost 8 with refined biofuel.

Unfortunately I live in the UK where we're not allowed to do anything that even remotely takes us off the grid and I was prosecuted for non payment of tax. Yes, that's right, even though I made the fuel myself the government insists that I pay duty on every litre of fuel made.

If the shtf and diesel is in short supply the local cash & carry holds thousands of litres of vegetable oil. I've started stockpiling.

i , for one, am interested in fixing my raptor for my "when the shtf truck",, maybe some light armor, bullet proof glass, etc.. any ideas, suggestions, comments ,( pauses and waits for Hades to get back from a smoke break)..
Bulletproof glass is expensive, light armour could be, unless you have a metal shop close and can work a deal for the plates they will not use. I have modified an old Hummvee i bought at a military vehicle surplus shop. Extra lights, roll bars, steel bumpers (front, rear) it had think 2" shatter/bullet proof glass with armoured plated sides, doors. I sold it, and am working on retrofitting my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4x4 quad cab as my new SHTF, bug out vehicles

I have been tinkering with retrofitting my 2016 International CX pick up with a blown nitro's engine and she runs about 220 mph. 18 speed trans, and totally restored. Will send some pics when totally done with her in the next few months.
