They never did find out what the heck caused that Miami face-eater deal....(it wasn't bath salts...anyone who bothered to follow up will learn that). So, it isn't out of the realm of possibility. SOMETHING caused that guy to go psycho....

Reanimated corpses? Not likely, but a mutant rabies strain that is airborne? Or some other deliberate mind-altering drug....not impossible. I would think though, that such a thing would be quickly contained, unless a concerted, deliberate effort.

now i do admit preparing for a zombie outbreak/apocalypse can be a good route to take.on account it'll give you preps for any thing that could happen.be it natural and/or man made.

"Within the limits of current technology by both laboratories, marijuana is the only drug identified in the body of Mr. Rudy Eugene."

"Bath Salts" does not refer to a specific drug, but to the deceptive practice of selling designer drugs labeled as something else (such as bath salts) in order to skirt the laws against illegal drugs. There are so many such drugs out there, coming up with tests to identify all of them is impossible. The only thing they could identify was marijuana, so they could not say for sure what he was on because the other tests they had were negative. Which could very well mean that he was on one of the hundreds of "bath salts" they didn't have a test for.

There are hundreds of bath salt compounds out there, but toxicologists can only test for 40

Did you learn if the homeless guy he tried to eat survived? I have a cure for whatever chemical he was on, it's a 22cal behind the ear.

I don't know how "happily" the guy is living these days though... I mean, the guy is forever going to look like something out of a horror movie.

You should do a Google search on Ronald Poppo and read up on where his life was and where he is now. No his life is not perfect, but he has a great attitude on life and he holds no animosity for his attacker saying 'I'm sure that man had a bad day that day,' He is a testimony really. Honestly, if it were me, I don't know if I would be able to have his outlook on life.

Face eating: crazy stuff.

My wife and I started down the prepper path because of the zombie craze, but we're pretty sure zombies are the least likely SHTF scenario. But like it's been said, "if you're prepared for zombies your prepared for anything" and I think it's because a worldwide zombie apocalypse is a great metaphor for all sorts of civil unrest that could be caused by all number of things.

I think as long as a "zombie squad" prepared adequately and intelligently, and doesn't just stock up on combat tools and skills, it can be a good group to have in a SHTF event.

We just use it jokingly when referring to preps within our circle of friends. Somehow, it's more socially acceptable (and lighter conversation). Go figure. We all know that it is really about prepping for other more likely scenarios, but it keeps things glib.

You'd be surprised how many people you can talk about prepping with if you put it into zombie context and don't go overboard with the details of your plans. I like that this forum is a place where we can all do some "real talk" on the subject, so to speak.

Hello everyone, my name is Joel Graydon. I'm here to inform you about Z.O.P.S.T aka Zombie Outbreak and Pandemic Specialist Team. Good Luck prepping!

Just wanted to say that the unlikely hood of a "zombie" attack is rare. And I call these people zombies because there could be a release of a certain drug that alters the ability for the person to know what they are doing just like in some circumstances people who have been shot don't know it and there body is on auto pilot. It's possible but they wouldn't be your rise from the grave zombies just humans who neurological system is whacked out after being exposed to something...

as fred sanford would put it..i see a dummy apocalypse happening...joel? how many zombie movies have you watched?..only way i see any such thing happening,(IF AT ALL),is if the government scientist come up with some thing to alter peoples brains.then use it..

Do you agree with my quote above just wondering?

yeah,i agree with it..as we all know.there's already mind altering drugs out there..and these drug make people do things that normally wont do.. take people who have been shot don't know it and there body is on auto pilot for example..now look how things went in i think it was the vietnam war..they were shot several times before dropping dead..and they weren't on drugs..and just like you.i say no to rise from the grave zombies..

Interestingly, I read today on the internet about certain viruses that mutate. I don't remember which one was mentioned, but the author stated that if a certain virus mutated and did not kill the person infected, the virus might be able to cause enough brain damage as to render the victim incapable of coherent thought. The author speculated that at that time, the victim would be driven strictly by basic instinct, thereby creating a zombie like person. I don't know if I buy this since I take 99.99% of what I read on the internet with a grain of salt, but the idea is intriguing.

Notice how so many people will drink , smoke ,snort , inject somthing that gets them into all kinds of situations and then say they are worried about the Government testing some drug or weapon on the public . Not aimed at any above post somthing I heard earlier today started that thought . Jim I think some folks are not old enough to know who Fred Sanford is . LOL

I don't believe in Zombies as in the Hollywood version aka "the walking dead", but I do believe there will be zombies(small z) as in people who are infected with some form of contagion/disease harmful to my continued existence!!!Shoot

yeah.very few know who he is these days..but that came to mind.and it was funny at the time..LOL :)

One post member. Not to bash I was really hoping for more from the Arizona sections here. Maybe I should seek to change that...
I should have figured as much from the zombie topic. Side note I love zombie survival films and no, I am not under the impression there will be a zombie outbreak in the non fiction side of the world remotely soon.
