Those whom are desperate and unprepared will feel they have no other choice.

It's a numbers game. Inevitably there will be people whom would make it by you. Unless you are living in a desert or deserted island...there will be people.
the desperate maybe, the unprepared wont make it out of the city alive.
I've never understood this subject, fine if they have somewhere specific to go, but wandering around playing the refugee just hoping to find food, water and shelter is a fools errand, which will get them killed in short order.
I mean this is a country where the majority don't walk any further than 200 yards from their cars and we have an obesity crisis.
oh yeah, and most panic if they are parted from their phones for any more than 30 seconds.
people in this country who live in cities-that's 80% of the total population- know nothing about the countryside and are totally ignorant of where their food comes from, "duh! the supermarket?":rolleyes:

In the unlikely SHTF scenario many would flock to the country. Your ATVS would leave tracks leading the "alleged savages" to ur man cave. Nothing screams "resources" like an ATV.

It would be much more difficult to track a vehicle in the city. Again I want to reiterate that I believe unless a member of large group...it's best to stay off vehicles in general.

well leaving tracks will depend on your travels and your location,,,I am in the Ozarks lots of rock I wouldn't leave a lot of tracks,,,,and the area I hunt I have not seen anyone else back in there in 5 years,,,and what tracks that could be found I am in the middle of nowhere so just who is going to see them

Many people in cities have family and or property outside the city. Most are conditioned to be believe they need to leave big cities immediately.

If you think out of millions and millions of people none are going to make it by you...you've got another thing coming.
I don't know if you hunt or not but in this day and age most land is leased to hunters, around here if the SHTF I figure those who can get out will head for their hunting lease for a prolonged camping trip,,,,there is no doubt in my mind there will be a influx of outsiders the question is how many, and will they be a hazard ,,I know most of these people who lease around here so I might find myself with some allies,,,,unwanted but at least they are people I have dealt with in the past

You can take 10 people from any one location in the world and place them in extremely difficult situations and they will all perform differently. One can be a tri athlete (endurance). One can bow hunt (food), one can have resources/connections and another essentially worthless.

If you think you're the only one with resources and or skills to survive...I can assure you're mistaken.

People in groups will slowly migrate from town to town across country. The strongest & most willed would survive.

What you didn't think 80% of the world was just going to vanish into thin air just because you want them to did you?

So many things would have to go wrong for things to escalate to the point of SHTF. There are so many variables to this. For one what about our military, our government, our allies and the rest of the world.

All of us have a better chance of winning the mega millions lottery than the world reaching TSHTF scenario. I still believe in preparation for a variety of different reasons.

I hope to hell you are right, but all it takes is one dumb SOB to throw us all under the bus

Imagine all the things going on in the world right now that we don't know about. We have intelligence everywhere all the time all over the world. It's hard to image things escalating to such an extreme.

I think what is more likely to occur is a short term crisis. One that could be devastating but not perminently life changing.

all I can do is wait and see what happens,,,,I do not need anything major to happen

i truly believe there is a difference in how the masses will behave both in the USA and here in Britain.
in the US you have a history of pioneering and homesteading, in Britain we do not.
even in the Blitz people did not leave their homes and wander about the country, that would have hampered the war effort.
nowadays if you told people to evacuate you would get a 2 word answer and the second word would be "OFF!"
we don't have things like typhoons, hurricaines and earthquakes like you do in the US, what we have are severe winter storms and once every 50 or 60 years we have severe flooding, apart from that life goes on as normal with the odd hiccup.
people are just not programmed in this country to leave their homes in a serious emergency, sure they will spend a night or two in the local community centre if there is a gas leak or some such, but leave their homes permanently and sleep in a ditch, be cold, wet and hungry, not knowing where the next meal comes from? it isn't going to happen.

what sucks is we have no control over anything,

Control?
"WE" the peons have zero control over world events.
For that very reason we are on a prepper site learning what to do if and when the world takes
a big crap.
I recall a quote from Einstein.
"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

Fact is I doubt anyone of us on this forum can financially afford to prep for every conceivable
s.h.t.f. situation.
I'm bugging in.
I live in a relatively sparsely populated part of N.E. Ohio, the only house on my side of the road surrounded
buy woods.
Yes I have a wood burner, a gasoline generator, well, etc.
And guns and ammo to protect me and mine. (gawd ferbid I need to that!)
The genny is going to last only as long as the gas lasts.
So I have 5 gallons of kero fuel and lamps but even that won't last forever.
Heck "I" won't last forever.
(Yes I do have about 20 long candles.)
I can only hope to get my adult kids to buy into prepping. Sadly not at all likely.
Perhaps my grown grand kids. Dunno.
Speaking of surviving..........................
This happened to me at the Florida house a few days ago.
A simple, minor accident.
I snagged a fishing lure on a tree branch and tugged on the rod to free the lure.
Free it I did as it rocketed right back at me impaling a large hook right through my rt. hand.
OW! To the E.R. I went to have it removed.
The doc gave me a tetanus and antibiotic injection explaining that s.w. Fla. is in a prolonged
drought and the bacteria in water is quite high and potentially deadly.
I'm on 10 days of antibiotics to prevent staff and other nasty infections.
( I've had blood poisoning and it nearly killed me!)
It seems S.W. Fla now is rampant with FIRES burning at least 7,000 acres when we left 3 days
ago.
Homes lost but no deaths................... yet.
How does one prep for wild fires one wonders?
Oh! I'm now good against blood poisoning now for at least 5 years; or so says the doc.
Is getting a tetanus shot a prepper idea?????
Just askin'.
