Jesse Watters(From Watter's World on Fox News) had a segment this weekend about liberals turning to prepping from fears that Trump is going to end the world by sparking nuclear war or some other action that could spark civil unrest and start a huge crisis within our Nation.

Oddly enough, conservatives thought a lot of the same problems would arise during the Obama administration. Truthfully, I can't blame a Democrat one bit for prepping for what they think might happen... After all, isn't it why we all prep? Isn't it in anticipation of some bad thing coming down the pike that turns our normal lives upside down?

Watters took a somewhat critical stance on the whole idea, but I couldn't help but think it was only because of opposing political views. I wonder if it's going to actually change much in prepper world, or if the demographics of preppers in America are going to change much.

The fights and physical violence at several rallies yesterday are indications to me that the reason to prep in terms of political changes has more to do with balkanization and civil war than it does with nuclear war. But, either way.

I don't think much is going to change, in fact, I see the preppers demographic if not the whole prepping community shrinking and there are pretty good signs of that now such as good deals and lower prices on name brand products that Survivalist and Preppers purchase, from freeze dried goods to firearm components, I'm seeing a lot of deals that's telling me things are slowing down within the prepping community. I already heard of a local group disbanded and splintered into smaller groups. I'm not seeing liberals side of prepping taking up any slack. On a side note, my Wife personally knows 2 women who were die hard liberals that have gone full tilt to the right whom are prepping now where their ideolog has changed 180 after the Trump election.

I think that a lot of preppers, as you say, are becoming more political, and so instead of a retreat and stock up mentality, it's becoming in some areas, mine at least, a preparation for social conflict and civil unrest.

I will continue down my chosen path, with Trump in office I don't worry about nukes so much,Clinton scared the hell out of me,but I can see why the Democrats are worried, their little bubble has burst and they are afraid of what might happen
but that is what prepping is about being prepared for IF the SHTF

gun sells are down ,I am starting to see more ammo on the shelf ,some gun regulations are in the works that I would like to see passed that are 2nd amendment friendly ,it would be great to see gun prices come down some,I will not hold my breath for that one

for the most part I am happy with what I am seeing under Trump

There's a good chance that another socialist/communist/Marxist will be elected after Trump in 4-8 years. Remember, that over half of the US population is on some sort of government handout now. When they vote they will always vote for more handouts. I feel that we have a reprieve with Trump, but it won't last forever.

Trump Administration Is Making These Cautious Liberals Act Like Paranoid Preppers

Jim Ray is the kind of urban-dwelling liberal who you’d think finds prepping a little silly. Stockpiling food and ammo in anticipation of some civilization-destroying cataclysm? That, he says, is the province of nutty conservatives, and Ray, 37, isn’t one of them. He lives in a one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco with his wife, Sadie, and their toddler. He works in developer support at the popular software startup Slack. He doesn’t own a gun, and he has no plans to buy one. He and his wife did get an earthquake preparedness kit when they moved here from Seattle five and a half years ago — but every San Franciscan needs an earthquake kit.
Then, around the start of the new year, Ray looked through the earthquake kit to check whether any perishables — batteries, glow sticks, calorie food bars — were expired. He had performed this ritual in years past, but with a Trump presidency on the horizon, this time it felt weightier. So when he ordered replacement items on Amazon, he also bought some new things, like a tarp, “just so I could set up a mini shelter if we needed to,” and a water-filtration straw.
